Older facility, but clean and...

Liked: My mother-in-law and I stayed one night. The hotel, while older, was clean and comfortable for an overnight stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful both at check-in and in the breakfast area.
Disliked: The price we paid was high for the quality/ type of facility. The one working elevator made me laugh because we never arrived on our floor without some sort of interesting additional floor stops and direction changes. Breakfast, which we paid for separately, was greasy and not particularly enjoyable. We did appreciate however not having to go search out a breakfast somewhere else.

Liked: The lady at the front desk was nice, it was nice to have convenient parking and no extra fee for a pet and the restaurant Margarita adjacent to the hotel was good. The actual beds were not bad.
Disliked: I was not expecting luxury and I am not one to complain easily, but I was quite disappointed with Holiday Inn Salem by IHG. The hotel was outdated and room had a musty, moldy smell. We walked in to the sofa bed not made despite booking the room for 4. We did quickly get linens from the front desk and made the bed ourselves. I had called the hotel in advance to make sure the sofa bed in the 4-person suite is suitable for grown ups to sleep in and was told it is. It turned out it was not. On top of sinking through the springs of the sofa bed the noise from the hallway kept us up all night. All in all, our stay was a part of a road trip and this night was easily the worst but also easily the most expensive.
