Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Dave, Olean, visiting Water Street Music Hall Wed, 8 April 2015

I was very disappointed with my stay at the plaza. The room was quite dirty and had a bit of an odor. There was no running hot water in the shower or sink. The toilet was broken and wouldn't flush. The hallways were filled with dust and clutter from several room renovations. Drywall and plywood were scattered along the halls. The gym was extremely disappointing with about 3 pieces of equipment and 2 free weights because the rest "had been stolen" said the desk clerk. The only positive thing about my stay was the gentleman working the front desk who recommended a local bar and pizza place to me.

Liked: Front desk service.
Disliked: Room; shower; toilet; hallways; gym.

Lynzie, Niagara, Canada, visiting Main Street Armory Mon, 16 February 2015

Liked: Robyn when I checked in was so helpful - she got me a number so I could call the place I was going and she was friendly and she also called me a cab.
Disliked: The room was very old and outdated; there was water damage; the radio didn't work; the shower was awful to look at so we didn't even get it; the tissue box fell out of the wall when I used a tissue; for $142 I expected more; 2 star doesn't automatically mean old and decrepit.

Theresa, Binghamton Thu, 4 July 2013

Generally dirty and gross, took away from the fun of our trip.

Liked: Nice staff, but would never ever stay there again!
Disliked: Dirty; broken lights; half smoked cigar in room; stains on blankets; just disgusting!

Nicole, Rome, visiting Blue Cross Arena Mon, 13 May 2013

Liked: Staff compensated our bill when we checked out for heating and A/C issue, so at least they tried.
Disliked: Heater blew all night and we had to sleep with the window open because it got so hot and A/C didn't work. Also, the vent in the bathroom didn't work and beds were not comfortable at all.

Liked: Location to downtown restaurants (Dinosaurs) & the Stock Exchange, as well as the Blue Cross Arena.
Disliked: Front desk staff could have been more accommodating and helpful. Housekeeping missed empty bottles from previous guests under the beds.

I would stay somewhere else...

Liked: Comfortable bed.
Disliked: Well.. decided to charge me a deposit even though I booked a room with "pay at the property" and "no deposit"... it took some convincing to get the front desk at the hotel to assist me! Breakfast was a la cart and took forever to be served.. once it did the food was cold ..

While not a nightmare, probably...

Liked: The Good. Other than one woman at the front desk (I think her name was Kelly) the rest of the staff was very pleasant and very helpful. Other than the floors, the rest of the hotel room was very well kept for the price. I had clean towels and clean sheets every morning. Impressive little gym area for a Hotel, did not expect to find freeweights
Disliked: The Bad First problem came from, apparently, my reservation never made it to Holiday Inn. I gave all of the information that gave me and they were unable to find my reservation. Second problem, came from the front desk. Lady behind the desk, I believe her name was Kelly, was pretty clueless. I gave her all the information that I had including showing her the verification email that showed I was at the correct address, at the correct time, with the correct booking. She decided to repeat the same line of questions with no result 3 times over. Just reinstating the fact that she couldn't find the booking rather than just trying to find a solution. Third problem, the floors were filthy and I stepped in something wet and sticky on the carpet, that looked like it had been spilled from the previous occupant. This also compounded by the fact that parking is atrocious and a mess. And that they had to shut off the water main during my stay for about half a day which meant I couldn't shower, use the bathroom, etc.
