I would stay again.
Liked: Very clean.
Disliked: The phone was not working. Could not get through to front desk or housekeeping - kept getting busy signal. I was in room 132 and another visitor had a dog that kept us up all night.

The room was clean and...
Liked: Well, I had looked at a number of hotels in the area and chose this one because they had the central location we were looking for, as well as a good rating. The thing that sold us was the outdoor pool. Because the Santa Barbara county had approved for private hotel, outdoor pools to be allowed open we thought this the better choice, although the newer and higher ranked hotel next door looked nicer, their pool was indoors (and still not allowed to be open under COVID restrictions). I called the hotel the week before our stay and they mentioned the gym was closed but failed to mention the pool was off limits as well. When we arrived for check in, they let us know that the completely open air and spacious pool was closed. However, the small, enclosed bar was open for happy hour?! This was frustrating, since we booked based on the pool and had researched restrictions to ensure a smooth stay. We asked if we could at least use the tables around the pool deck, since we were planning to visit with my mom, and she lives in a place without outdoor space, they also told us we could not even use the tables on the pool deck. BUT the indoor, close together tables and chairs in the lobby were available for use. Now, my husband and I have been very carefully practicing social distancing, wearing masks and keeping hand sanitizer readily available to protect ourselves and others. I am very thrilled with the way our Governor in CA has handled this pandemic, however, it is immensely frustrating when this hotel isn't even following directives of the state, or even their own county?! Not only that, when we arrived for check in, there were three people gathered near the front desk, with only the young lady behind the counter wearing a mask. At this point, it was a directive that masks are required indoors at businesses and places where social distancing is not possible. These people were not socially distanced, nor where they wearing masks, and appeared to be employees. (Cont)
Disliked: Then, when we came downstairs to head out of the hotel, there were a number of gentlemen standing around the bar area in the lobby, partially blocking the hall into the lobby. All without masks, all not socially distancing. Now I ask, how is this proper protocol, or even logically sensible, but the open air pool cannot be used?! When I addressed this upon checkout (the following day), the front desk attendant said there was "a lot of paperwork that had to be completed" in order for them to open the pool, and they "just hadn't done it yet." Are your serious?! I tried to ask for a credit towards my stay, but she shrugged it off and changed the subject. I also was double charged, a total of $430 for my $130, one night stay. When I brought this to the attendants attention, she seemed unsure how this happened but said she would cancel the overcharge. I wanted the room charge on my credit card to earn points, which is the card I gave when I checked in. She then asked for the card again and proceeded to charge me a third time. When I asked why, she said she would cancel the other two charges and they should fall off at some point in the next 10 business days. Really?! So now I have $560 held for my one night stay?! Cool. The property itself was fine. Central location if you're trying to go to SB or SLO, but it is right next to the freeway, and apparently they struggle with common sense and basic business transactions. Overall, it was a pretty frustrating experience.
