Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Chicago - Downtown By IHG

Liked: Room was nice; bed was comfortable.
Disliked: I always like a complimentary breakfast which wasn't available. I am usually in a hurry.

A great stay! We booked the hotel wanting something close to the United Center for an event we were attending. Honestly, we were a little leery because the cost so was so reasonable and it was so close to the venue - we thought it was too good to be true, but we took a chance and ended up being extremely impressed. The hotel was very clean and the staff...unbelievable - they were very friendly, courteous and helpful. Loved the fact that there was a restaurant right downstairs; convenient and reasonable parking, and just a little over a mile from the United Center. Would definitely stay here again!

Big city hotel with rooftop...

Liked: Penthouse pool was nice. Room was fine. Bathroom functional. Elevators worked. Blinds were remote controlled and fine (blocking out a bright light that shone directly into our room at night).
Disliked: Much construction nearby. The expressway is next door to the hotel so there is the risk of pollution. View was not so great (a parking lot). Not many plants or trees. It felt concrete-y. The walk to the Union Train station was rather circuitous (no gate for pedestrians out of the parking lot). Most of all, my laptop could not connect to the Hotel wifi -- but the fault was not my laptop since it worked on other hotels. Also, the guest laundry was taken by someone else (ie not enough washer-dryers).

Not a Comfortable experience ....

Liked: Average, my choice as it was close of UIC.
Disliked: If you want to have peaceful stay in HOLIDAY INN or Crowne Plaza, better to book through IHG not booking.com. Why?For anything or any adjustments, they will deal you 3rd party booking and behave impolitely. I had very bad conversation from Front Desk when she refused to listen to me and advised me to launch a complaint. As a member of IHG, I reported to them but no use, same voice round '3rd party booking'I think they are taking the advantage of their close location of UIC. Otherwise it is average choice to live.

Close to Train Station

Liked: Super close to the train station (3 blocks) easy to walk to/from.Easy to walk to food & shopping. Allowed early check in & a late check out due to our train schedule with my IHG membership!
Disliked: No complaints

Comfortable stay at hotel not...

Liked: Friendly staff, NO bugs, clean, large rooms, safe, very comfortable bed
Disliked: Tiny bathroom, the only entrance in or out was to a parking lot with huge ramps and into a parking lot filled with rats at nighttime, not very accessible at all. Do not waste money on breakfast that would be free at most hotels.
