Feeling ripped off - Fur...

Liked: Entrance and reception / bar / restaurant all very stylish, comfortable and recently upgraded. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Location great for us as competing at the sports venue nearby.
Disliked: The rooms have clearly not been upgraded for some time and look like they have actually been stripped of facilities such as a fridge. As we were competing in a powerlifting competition on the Saturday so we required a cool place for food on the day of the competition and water for hydrating. Our departure was 6am so breakfast buffet was not an option. A fridge in a room is the norm in my experience except for lower end budget hotels so this was a disappointment. The air conditioning is very out of date and we were there on the hottest weekend of the year so far exceeding 30 degrees. The corridor outside my room was a main thoroughfare for the other rooms and floors and the auto-lighting plus noise of people coming and going meant that I was woken persistently - this was not a quiet room as requested and had a very bad impact on my sleep the night before competing. The contrast in decor and comfort between the entrance area and the rooms I and friends stayed in is very stark and I would not stay here, or another Holiday Inn hotel in the future. At £140 per night this felt like an expensive budget hotel room with a very nice reception. I would have preferred this to be the other way aorund. Holiday Inn will not be on our search list for future competition trips and we are now convinced we should return to AirBNB options to cater better for our accommodation needs.

Liked: I booked this room for the powerlifting championships happening in the sports park next door and I was delighted with it. Very clean, quiet and comfortable and well located. Most importantly it has very good air con that allowed me to have a refreshing nap on the hottest day of the year before my event so I was fresh to compete. Would use again!

The single best holidaying experience...

Liked: Everything was presented to the highest possible standard - an amazing trip. The staff, in particular were the best I’ve come across in the sector, both professional and approachable, not an easy combination. Superb food too.
Disliked: Absolutely nothing. Truly it was amazing! I wish we could’ve stayed longer
