Holiday Inn Express - Washington DC Downtown By IHG Guest Reviews

Contemporary, clean, and incredibly convenient, the Holiday Inn Express – Washington DC Downtown offers a no-fuss stay right in the heart of the city’s vibrant Northwest district. This 3-star hotel is just a short walk from major attractions and top concert venues, making it a smart base for music lovers wanting to stay close to the action without sacrificing comfort or value.
Location is everything, and this hotel nails it—only a 9-minute walk to Walter E. Washington Convention Center and under a mile to Union Station. After the encore, you won’t have far to go. Guests love the quiet rooms with blackout shades for post-show recovery, and the 24-hour front desk means you can check in late with no stress. Public transport and rideshares are readily available nearby, so getting to and from gigs is a breeze.
While there isn’t a restaurant on-site, guests rave about the free hot breakfast buffet, available even after a late night out. You’ll also find a coffee machine in every room—life-saver after a loud night. For dining, the area is packed with walkable eateries serving everything from fast bites to sit-down meals. No 24/7 room service, but plenty of late-night takeout options are nearby.
Though the hotel itself doesn’t offer live music or a bar, you’re surrounded by nightlife. From laid-back lounges to energetic clubs and concert halls, it’s all within walking or quick ride distance. Whether you’re pre-gaming or looking for a nightcap after the show, you’ll find plenty of spots close by to keep the night going.
Guests love the spotless rooms, friendly staff, and excellent downtown location. Many reviewers highlight the comfortable beds and quiet atmosphere, even in a busy part of the city. The included breakfast is a standout, especially for those recovering from a night of dancing and singing along.
Parking is available but not complimentary, and some guests mention it can be a bit pricey. Also, if you’re looking for a hotel with a bar or nightlife on-site, you might find it a bit too quiet. But honestly, after a loud concert, that might be a plus.
Holiday Inn Express DC Downtown is a clean, comfortable, and conveniently located hotel that hits all the right notes for concert-goers looking for a restful yet central place to crash after the show.

Bad
Disliked: The staff at the front desk was struggling with my reservation. They couldn't find it until I proved I had made it by booking. And they got mad at me because of their mistake. The hotel has not reimbursed my security deposit.
