Holiday Inn Express - Washington DC Downtown an IHG Hotel Guest Reviews
Write a review
Contemporary, clean, and incredibly convenient, the Holiday Inn Express – Washington DC Downtown offers a no-fuss stay right in the heart of the city’s vibrant Northwest district. This 3-star hotel is just a short walk from major attractions and top concert venues, making it a smart base for music lovers wanting to stay close to the action without sacrificing comfort or value.
Location is everything, and this hotel nails it—only a 9-minute walk to Walter E. Washington Convention Center and under a mile to Union Station. After the encore, you won’t have far to go. Guests love the quiet rooms with blackout shades for post-show recovery, and the 24-hour front desk means you can check in late with no stress. Public transport and rideshares are readily available nearby, so getting to and from gigs is a breeze.
While there isn’t a restaurant on-site, guests rave about the free hot breakfast buffet, available even after a late night out. You’ll also find a coffee machine in every room—life-saver after a loud night. For dining, the area is packed with walkable eateries serving everything from fast bites to sit-down meals. No 24/7 room service, but plenty of late-night takeout options are nearby.
Though the hotel itself doesn’t offer live music or a bar, you’re surrounded by nightlife. From laid-back lounges to energetic clubs and concert halls, it’s all within walking or quick ride distance. Whether you’re pre-gaming or looking for a nightcap after the show, you’ll find plenty of spots close by to keep the night going.
Guests love the spotless rooms, friendly staff, and excellent downtown location. Many reviewers highlight the comfortable beds and quiet atmosphere, even in a busy part of the city. The included breakfast is a standout, especially for those recovering from a night of dancing and singing along.
Parking is available but not complimentary, and some guests mention it can be a bit pricey. Also, if you’re looking for a hotel with a bar or nightlife on-site, you might find it a bit too quiet. But honestly, after a loud concert, that might be a plus.
Holiday Inn Express DC Downtown is a clean, comfortable, and conveniently located hotel that hits all the right notes for concert-goers looking for a restful yet central place to crash after the show.

I would recommend this hotel...
Liked: The hotel was nice. Great location . Breakfast was really good. Staff was really helpful
Disliked: They have you do valet parking and the sign has $55 per night. What they don’t tell you is that there is a service fee and 18% tax . Also the site has $49 per night . So where I thought I was paying $98 when I booked to $110 when I got there , my final total for parking was $132.32. So I didn’t like the sneaky, hidden fees.

It was kinda gross and...
Liked: We did like how clean the bathroom was.
Disliked: The pullout couch bed had food still in it from previous renters. It took three times to ask for someone to come clean it and bring sheets. The lady just used her hand to brush the larger crumbs onto the floor and made the bed. One of our beds was rock hard and very uncomfortable. The other one was soft. Our family ended up taking turns using the hard bed so at least part of us got decent sleep. The breakfast wasn't great. The potatoes weren't fully cooked and the oatmeal was more of a gray soup since it was mostly water in the container. My family tried the omelets too but the cheese was a weird sauce that didn't taste good.

Nice stay!
Liked: Clean, modern, good breakfast.
Disliked: Parking is expensive, cheaper options nearby though. Breakfast gets crowded the later you go.

Passable
Liked: Room very comfortable.and the breakfast very good .
Disliked: Costumer service, especially women. Bad service. I reserved a room with a sofa bed, and they gave me another room without a sofa bed.. After my complaint, I received another room with a sofa bed and hadn't blankets when I called to the reception that I needed blanket and sheets, they told me pick it up in the reception !!!what!!!!. If no fear. It wasn't my job. Girls were idle.

Was a good experience all...
Liked: The room was clean and quiet.
Disliked: Parking for car. I made my choices clear to have parking for my car included but at front desk the staff told no its not and there I needed to buy a parking which was very expensive and inconvenient.
