The Spotlight on Holiday Inn Express & Suites New Castle By IHG

Your Laid-Back Base Near Western PA Music Venues

Modern and comfortable, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites New Castle offers a relaxed stay in a convenient location just outside downtown New Castle, Pennsylvania. This 2-star IHG hotel brings reliable comfort with clean, spacious rooms, a fitness center, an indoor pool, and free Wi-Fi to keep you connected between shows.
Whether you're in town for a big performance or exploring nearby attractions like Slippery Rock University or The Links at Firestone Farms, this hotel provides a low-key retreat with everything you need for a music-fueled weekend.

Why Concert-goers love it

With easy highway access and a peaceful setting, this hotel is just far enough from the action to guarantee a good night’s sleep after a loud encore. The 24-hour front desk makes late arrivals a breeze, and the free Wi-Fi means you can upload setlist pics before you even crash. Late check-in at 4:00 PM gives you time to settle in before heading to a show, and the 11:00 AM check-out lets you sleep in the next day.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends road-tripping together
  • Solo travelers chasing that once-in-a-lifetime concert
  • Couples making a quiet weekend of it
  • Fans who want to recover in peace after the crowd buzz
  • Budget-conscious music lovers looking for value and comfort

Food and Drink Options

The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast—perfect after a late night out. While there’s no on-site restaurant, there are several local dining spots within a short drive, including pizza joints, diners, and fast casual options. No 24/7 room service here, but you can always grab snacks from the lobby area or nearby convenience stores.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is a quiet retreat, you’re not far from the nightlife in downtown New Castle or the college-town buzz near Slippery Rock. Expect casual bars, sports pubs, and local lounges within a 15–30 minute drive. It’s ideal for those who want to enjoy the scene, but not sleep in it.

What People Say

Guests often praise the cleanliness and helpful staff, noting the rooms are spacious and the beds are cozy. Travelers appreciate the quiet atmosphere, especially after a night out. Many reviews highlight the value for money and the convenience of the location for regional events and concerts.

Areas for Improvement

This isn’t a party hotel—and that’s the point. If you’re looking for on-site bars or late-night eats, you’ll need to venture out. A few guests mentioned the breakfast area can get busy during peak hours, and a rental car is helpful since rideshares can be hit or miss in the area.

The Bottom Line

If you're seeking a clean, quiet, and affordable place to recharge after a concert, Holiday Inn Express & Suites New Castle hits the right note.

Relaxing and Fun

Liked: Everything. It was clean, located conveniently near stores and restaurants but not in a super crowded area. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic hotel, one issue for...

Liked: Loved the room set-up! I really like the bench and coat hooks above on the wall. Easy to put luggage and bags off the floor. The bathrooms and room were very clean and the hotel was very nice and felt safe. The breakfast cinnamon rolls were great, my daughter loved the bagels and we both enjoyed the yogurt. The staff was also very nice and the pool was warm my daughter said!
Disliked: Two things- unfortunately I think this was a fluke- but the king bed in our room was damaged I believe. The side my daughter slept on was great, but on my side, under my shoulders, the bed springs must’ve slipped out or were broken because it felt like a hole under my shoulders, like I was falling through. So for me, it was very uncomfortable and hard to fall asleep. The second is the water pressure in the shower is very low and hard to adjust the temperature. It took a good 5 minutes to go from freezing to hot to cold to a normal temp playing with the handle. I let hotel staff know about the bed so it could be fixed. I don’t know if anyone else will have that issue.
