Superb

Disliked: The location..... We traveled at night so it was hard to find. We traveled to two different hotels with the same name until we found our hotel. It was behind Meijer and didn't realize it, because we couldn't see the sign from the road.

Liked: Friendly staff
Disliked: We had dirty towels in our room which made the entire stay cringe. Makes me think that the room was never cleaned.

Hoped to be impressed based...

Liked: The room size, beds were very comfortable. We loved the storage system built in for luggage, shoes, bags/jackets etc. To keep the floors clear. That was nicely done. Bathroom was spacious and clean. The lighted mirror was very nice. Plenty of outlets for electronics. Breakfast was just ok / hot breakfast / cafeteria quality, (food was very salty-both eggs and meats.) I also did have a good staff exchange with Justin at checkout. He was very professional, kind and helpful. I had a phone conversation with him prior to our stay to ask questions about the number of guests in our room and he was pleasant on the phone at that time as well.
Disliked: Our shower was broken in our room. At first, the shower was attached to the wall until we turned the water on and lifted the handle for the diverter to start the shower. At that point the faucet shot off the wall. We tried to hold it in place to turn the shower on but that was a fail. We reported it on the morning after our first night as we left for the day. When we came back the faucet was in place. The second morning we turned the shower on and the faucet shot off the wall again. There was also no hand soap in the bathroom. I stopped a hotel maid in the hallway on the first morning to ask for some hand soap and she told me I had to get it from the front desk. When I reported our broken shower to the gentleman at the desk I also mentioned that we had no hand soap and that the maid said I needed to get it from the front desk. He said "that is correct" but then did not offer me any, I suggested we could get it when we came back. (I later found out that he was the general manager. He knew we were booked for a two night stay. Did not offer any solution to our broken shower either or room exchange) We opted to pick up some hand soap from Trader Joe's while we were out.After arriving home from our trip my husband checked our visa bill and it shows we were billed 50.00 more than my booking price our hotel receipt showed. I called the hotel and the person answering the phone was rather rude and patronizing. She told me that when I checked in I was told that there was an additional 50.00 fee added to our bill for incidentals and that after we checked out they would release that back to our bank. I told her that I was NOT told that when I checked in and it was not on the printed receipt given to me. Her conversational tone was very snarky. I intentionally chose this hotel at a higher rate for a two night stay because of the reviews on this site staying how friendly the staff is and how clean the rooms are and that the rooms are slightly larger in size.

Disliked: No soap in the room, but I understand covid shortages. They went to the store to buy some for us!

Great hotel if you're just...

Liked: The staff at the front desk was excellent and the rooms were clean, comfy, and had a fridge and microwave.
Disliked: The breakfast did not have as many options as I would've thought- no fresh fruit, no bagels on one day and a very small amount on another day, no muffins, pancakes/waffles, etc. No one cleaned up the trash cans either, so the customers were piling their garbage on the counter next to the trash cans.We booked online and it was not clear that there were multiple hotels in the area that had the same name/same chain. The online pictures depicted a hot tub, but we discovered after getting to the hotel that the picture was from a different hotel. After reading reviews, we found out that we weren't the only ones who were mislead. We purposely chose this hotel as we were looking for a hotel in Grand Rapids that had a pool and hot tub and offered breakfast.
