Holiday Inn Express Southampton - M27 J7

Liked: Friendly staff; easy to park; made to feel welcome; nice rooms; good breakfast.
Disliked: None.

Booked a double bed room - had double bed and sofa bed made up so no room to move. They did take it down eventually. Breakfast was called an economical breakfast as they were busy - no fried eggs! Premier Inn is much much better value. Was horrendous - £250 just to sleep. Never again.

Liked: Nothing.
Disliked: Breakfast the room.

Disliked: Service very slow, ordered coffee which never came. 5 pounds for two at other holiday Inn it's free

Lovely staff, clean rooms, very...

Liked: Fantastic front desk staff. Really helpful and kind. Breakfast was ok. The flow around the breakfast was a little difficult to navigate, eg milk not near cereals. But apart from that all was good.

Good for a one night...

Liked: I liked my first floor room and the breakfast buffet
Disliked: The restaurant meal was awful and the choices were limited. The beverages were limited to alcohol and water. Children were everywhere and it one hour for my meal to arrive.

Superb

Excellent location, comfy stay. Shame...

Liked: It was a great location, easy to find, easy to park and very peaceful. There were bus stops within a couple of minutes walk, so it was possible to travel around the area without having to drive. We tried out the Adventure Golf course in nearby Hedge End, which was great fun. We also watched the cricket at the neighbouring Utilita Bowl and had a brilliant day out, then had a couple of minutes walk back to the hotel at the end of the day. The staff were all really friendly and professional, especially Ana the room cleaner. We had two rooms opposite each other, which was good to be close by. Both rooms were spotlessly clean, fresh and comfortable.
Disliked: The breakfast was not as nice as other places we have stayed. The fruit juices and water had a strange taste to them. The scrambled eggs were rubbery and watery at the same time. The queues for the pancake making machine were long and due to the layout of the breakfast buffet area, the crowds of people made it difficult for the children to navigate the area whilst carrying their plates. The breakfast room was noisy, which was difficult for our autistic child to deal with, and there were no quieter areas to sit in as an alternative.In addition, I had made the booking several months ago, then suddenly the hotel cancelled the booking without reason. I went on to re-book but the price had gone up, so I ended up paying more in order to re-secure the booking we needed for our weekend away. If we hadn't already booked tickets for the cricket I would have changed plans and not re-booked as I think that's really poor practice to force people to pay more by cancelling their cheaper booking.

Liked: Very helpful staff managed to get our room for 1 pm so we could go to watch the cricket

Disappointed

Liked: The convenience to the Utilita Bowl, the check in, the bar after the game, good atmosphere, reasonable priced beer and the opportunity to have something to eat. Staff at this point were friendly.
Disliked: The bottle top, like those on the top of bottles of water, found under the sheet, in my bed, when l snuggled down to sleep. Took it down to reception, night receptionist wasn't that helpful, offer any help but did say would speak to housekeeping and the morning duty manager. When l spoke to the Manager in the morning, he knew nothing of it!Also, a member of the cleaning staff was extremely rude to me when l politely asked for another towel.
