The Spotlight on Holiday Inn Express Newcastle City Centre

Smart, Central Stay Just Steps from the Action

Modern, budget-friendly, and brilliantly located, the Holiday Inn Express Newcastle City Centre puts you right in the heart of the city's vibrant nightlife and live music scene. Just a short walk from Newcastle Railway Station and the Utilita Arena, this hotel is a top pick for travelers who want comfort and convenience without breaking the bank.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re less than a 10-minute stroll from the Utilita Arena, making it easy to beat the post-show crowds. Soundproofed rooms help you wind down after the encore, and with free WiFi and a 24-hour front desk, you’ve got everything you need for a stress-free stay. The central location also means late-night taxis or public transport are easy to come by. Check-in starts at 15:00, and with an 11:00 check-out, you’ve got time to sleep in post-gig.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for an affordable, central base
  • Solo travelers in town for a once-in-a-lifetime show
  • Couples turning a concert into a weekend getaway
  • Music fans who want a quieter spot to recharge after the gig
  • Budget-conscious travelers who still want style and comfort

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s Great Room serves up a generous breakfast buffet daily — perfect for those who’ve been out all night. While there’s no late-night restaurant or 24/7 room service, light snacks and drinks are available at the bar. You’re also just a few minutes’ walk from pubs, cafes, and fast food spots for any post-show cravings.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself keeps things low-key, you’re just steps from Newcastle’s buzzing nightlife. Popular cocktail bars, pubs and live music venues are all within easy reach, so you can keep the party going after the final encore — or just enjoy a quiet drink nearby.

What People Say

Guests rave about the friendly staff, clean and comfy rooms, and the unbeatable location for public transport and concert venues. Many highlight the value for money and convenient access to both the arena and the city’s shops and restaurants. The included breakfast also gets a frequent thumbs-up.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that while the rooms are compact and functional, they’re not especially spacious. Also, while the hotel is close to everything, it can get a bit lively outside on weekends — light sleepers may want to pack earplugs just in case.

The Bottom Line

If you’re heading to Newcastle for a show, Holiday Inn Express Newcastle City Centre is a smart, affordable base that puts you just minutes from the music and right in the heart of the city.

Very good

Liked: Central location, very good breakfast, green safety light over door and in bathroom, too bright for us, but understand why its needed. Price was higher that what we have previous paid, Maybe because it was Newcastle United last home game!

A nice break, we'll stay...

Liked: The location near the train station was excellent and it was a short walk to bars and restaurants.
Disliked: Breakfast was tasty but the queues were huge so very little food out and staff struggled to keep up
