Holiday Inn Express New Orleans - St Charles By IHG

Decent rooms - our first one did face a brick wall. They provide parking in a passcode locked garage for $10 for 24 hours, which isn't bad in New Orleans - it is two and a half blocks from the hotel though.

Liked: We then asked a different employee to move us to the correct room that we paid for, and he was very nice and accommodating. It was clean and nicer than staying in the middle of the French Quater (in my opinion) but still close to all of the attractions.
Disliked: The employees that were working during our check in and out time were rude and incompetent. They put us in the wrong room and were very disrespectful. The restaurant was equally as disappointing.

The location, room, breakfast and...

Liked: The hotel was walking distance (.5 miles) from the Amtrack station, arriving after dark, the sidewalks were well lit and very manageable. Greeted upon arrival and promptly checked in, all went very smooth. The night desk attendant was very approachable. Friendly and informative, she gave several suggestions for late night dining close by, easily managed, limited obstacles and within walking distance. Out and back, the suggestions were great. Our room was quite comfortable. The temperature of our room was maintained with consistency that we rarely experience, LOVED it for sleeping. The bed was quite welcoming and comfy after a coastal train ride and late walk. The shades blocked the morning light perfectly, so our morning sleep remained undisturbed. We had both firm and soft pillows. Our room and especially the bathroom was exceptionally clean. That was really noticed! Breakfast was just what we needed, and we were not disappointed. It was well thought out, displayed and maintained throughout the appointed time frame. The hot items were hot, and the cold items were cold. The day staff was just as friendly and helpful as the night staff. Awesome tips and suggestion such as how to maneuver around the city by streetcar, suggesting a day pass, best tip ever! The Staff that we encounter and those that we just observed while there were all very engaging, cordial, detail oriented and seemed to truly enjoy their job. Very Refreshing. This might seem long, but you asked, and it's nice to be able to recognize those that make your experience and day better.
Disliked: I was quite pleased with my stay, no complaints.

Disliked: Parking made no sense and was extremely expensive on top of an already expensive hotel room. When I called to confirm, staff said parking by valet was $45 or I could park on site. What wasn't mentioned was that on site parking was behind the building and ALSO $45...

One of the worst hotels...

Liked: Location was good for accessing the WW II museum and the trolley system.
Disliked: It was very dirty and the facility was really beat up. While the whole dining area was full of guests eating breakfast a mouse ran through the serving area back to the kitchen. Everyone saw it and the groan/gasps could be heard by all.

Liked: The room was great. The bed was comfortable.
Disliked: The coffee pot placement is odd; it's hard to make a cup of coffee due to placement. Could have been cleaner near the head of the bed.
