Elizabeth W, Prestatyn , visiting The Star And Garter Manchester Thu, 13 March 2014

Liked: Free breakfast; everything we needed provided in the room.
Disliked: On the first night, Saturday 8th March, we hardly had any sleep because of very noisy people coming back around 2.30am. This continued for an hour or so and security were called to access the room. Had very little sleep but second night was OK as they'd obviously checked out.

City centre hotel moments from...

Liked: We arrived from Oxford road station which is moments away. Reception were efficient and friendly. We arrived at a huge twin room with a fabulous ensuite with a wonderful power shower. The room was clean and comfy. The buffet breakfast was varied and ample. .
Disliked: Nothing.

Could do better

Disliked: The sink was blocked, the room had effectively no cold water which meant I was unable to shower in the morning as there was no cold water to "dilute" the scalding hot water, the desk light didn't work, there was thick dust over light fittings adjacent to the bed. The management did however discount my one night stay by 50% when I checked out without being asked which was a redeeming action.

Holiday Inn Manchester

Liked: The staff were very friendly and warm.
Disliked: I booked a 3 adult room. The sofa bed was so uncomfortable I hardly got any sleep. The head end of the mattress was lower than the feet, and I could feel every spring. There were only 2 mugs and glasses. There was black mould in the shower. When I opened the curtains in the morning I discovered an empty wine bottle that had been left from a previous guest. Breakfast was mediocre, the eggs were inedible due to too much salt. On a plus note the staff were lovely. Very friendly and smiley.
