Atypical Experience with IHG.
Liked: Lobby was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was truly much better than usual for a 'lobby breakfast' and the dining room staff were very gracious and attentive. Breakfast was the standout for the stay. Bathroom was also very clean. Extra parking directions were very helpful, and the small(ish) parking lot is located directly behind the building with easy access to the lobby.
Disliked: We were given a truly odd room on the first floor. First, as women travelers, we immediately asked not to be on the first floor and were told by the desk agent "we are full up and I can't start switching rooms now." Second, we did not get the two beds we reserved, but instead got one King bed. Third, the room was built into a corner of the former lobby and was sub-ground level, with enormous plate-glass windows you could not uncover because you were literally on the corner of the street, looking out at knee-level to passers-by. There was street noise from bus traffic, and, in the morning, noise from pedestrians. The ceilings and AC vent were so high up, the hotel had put three running circulating table fans in the room to move the air. I suppose the fans helped to mask the street noise. The room was just oddly configured and uncomfortable generally. We also got a text message out of the blue before checking in with detailed parking directions (helpful) but also saying that we would be charged an additional $20 to park overnight. Luckily that charge did not actually show up on the bill.
