Not a pleasant stay.
Liked: There was a lot to choose from for breakfast, but it wasn't very tasty and it wasn't very hot. The location was fine, but the lighting in the room was very dim. The worst part was there was no water pressure and the water didn't get too warm. I don't think we will stay here again.
Disliked: They need more lighting, Improve the water pressure and get it where it gets warm. They also need to accomdate those who smoke, it is unfair to completely forbid smoking on the property. Especially at a hotel!

Liked: The location was perfect.
Disliked: There was a bug, crawling up the chair. I think the staff said it was a stink bug, but it made for an uncomfortable night. Also, the rug was either just worn or dirty. We left and went to another hotel the next day.

Exceptional
Liked: In my opinion, the damage fee that this hotel holds the customers responsible for is the key to their success as an excellent overnight experience. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable and the breakfast was just perfect with a nice variety of choices of breakfast offerings. The staff was warm and welcoming. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely choose the Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Salem, Va. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Disliked: Nothing. Everything more than met my expectations!
