Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Pittsburgh-South Side By IHG

Overall the hotel is great. Only bad experience was the breakfast which we were hoping for after spending so much in the city.

Liked: Very close to concert venue and a lot of bars and restaurants.
Disliked: Breakfast was terrible and the food staff made it clear they don't like their job or helping people out!

Close to venue. That was a major plus. Within walking distance even in the cold. When we tried to look out our window the blind was broken and was told someone could "try" to fix it. That wasn't a deal breaker, it happens. Clerk at front desk was very nice, even gave us directions. Came back from show at Rex about 2:30 a.m. Got to bed late thinking we could just sleep in. This was not the case. Around 8:00 a.m. we heard people verbally fighting. My husband went and told them to take it elsewhere. A few of them where physically fighting the second time he went out. It was around 10 a.m. by the time it was totally quiet. We were not the only ones to hear it. As we were heading downstairs for breakfast the elevator was full of unhappy campers. Breakfast was there but grossly overrated. Cereal, muffins, yogurt and fruit. For the room cost I thought something hot would be provided. Leaving the parking lot after checkout, the clerk was on the phone because a few girls wanted a refund, no less than 4 police cars blocked our way out. I believe a free stay would help me understand that sometimes these things happen but they care enough about their customers for them to want to return. So, clean room and bathroom but for the money we paid no way does it deserve the 8.6 rating they boast at the check in.

Disliked: Fights at 8 a.m. among employees outside our door.

Liked: It was clean and in a good area.
Disliked: Front desk was rude. Did not have my booking correctly and then continued to tell me I was wrong how I booked until I showed them my reservation. Room was missing stuff. Elevator broke. Pool was the size of a puddle. Took a 100$ security deposit and then claimed they didnt. If you have to stay there take pictures of the screen you pay on because I was refused a reciept.

Liked: Close to many restaurants on Carson Street. Being a Holiday Inn, we knew what to expect, and there weren't really any surprises. Breakfast had several choices.
Disliked: Didn't realize there was a pool (must have missed it in the listing), so forgot to bring swim trunks!

Bad

Liked: The beds were comfortable
Disliked: The bathroom was dirty, did not provide adequate bedding for the children we had with us. The bathroom door did not shut unless you slammed it. The coffee pot in the room wouldnt work. Got to the hotel and had to pay an extra fee per room and an additional fee for parking per car. Highly disappointed and will not return to this hotel unfortunately.

Liked: King suite room is HUGE. Bed is comfortable! And the morning continental breakfast is great. And only $11 Uber ride to the stadiums. Definitely the place to stay.
