Carol, Buckie, visiting Caird Hall Dundee
We stayed three nights and found the hotel very centrally located. It is also very good for lack of noise mostly.
Liked: Staff were very approachable and knowledgeable of their product.
Disliked: Nothing bad; food portion sizes could be better.

My stay at the Holiday...
Liked: Great location to visit surrounding towns in Dundee
Disliked: So I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Dundee in from June 15 to June 19 and there were aspects to my stay which were satisfactory. I came to realise that some of the guests who stayed there had addiction issues or maybe had just been released from prison. As soon as I arrived I could smell cannabis around the entrance and on my landing. Coming out of the lift to my landing as I was met with a disheveled individual and me and my wife were concerned about using our key to access the landing in case he was waiting to follow behind us. At breakfast I saw various individuals who quite obviously weren’t the normal kind of tourist who would stay in an hotel. A bit of disclosure here I have worked for 32 years in a job where I regularly dealt with people with addiction issues and recognise the challenges they have but I don’t expect to spend just under £500 on a stay to experience this again. I have no problem with the ho(s)tel’s policy if they need to make the money but if they put it on their website that they cater for this then I would have known and stayed elsewhere. We did not feel safe. There were other times when I saw these people racing up and down between landings which to me intimated that one of them had substances on them to share. At the entrance to the hotel I saw people lying down ‘grouching’ which is not an attractive sight for incoming tourists. We also experienced banging doors at night. We did not feel safe, and during our four day stay we did not have our room cleaned by the maid service to reduce the risk of our door been left open on the landing for a period of time, and doing this reduced the risk. I spoke to the receptionist Sarah on our last day and she was apologetic and hoped that if more guests brought this to the hotels maybe the policy would change. She said that she would talk to her manager about offering us ‘points’ to stay again, but we let her know that we would not be staying there ever again and that a partial refund was more in order. Excellent hotel with staff you...
Liked: Good breakfast. Nice view of the Tay road bridge. Yes it was noisy but it was extremely hot and we had the window open all night so I don't think it counts. Very friendly and helpful staff who allowed us a very early check in as we had come from Aberdeen after a rough night on the Shetland Ferry and were shattered.
Disliked: I couldn't find fault.
