The Spotlight on Holiday Inn Express Bristol City Centre

Smart, central stay just steps from Bristol's music and nightlife

Modern and unfussy, the Holiday Inn Express Bristol City Centre is all about location and ease. Set directly opposite Temple Meads Railway Station, it's a top pick for music lovers arriving by train or road. You're just a 15-minute walk from Bristol’s buzzing Harbourside, nightlife spots, and live music venues. Rooms come with free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a power shower to freshen up before or after the show.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel’s prime location means you can stroll to many of Bristol's top music venues or grab a quick train or bus to further-out spots. With 24-hour reception and a relaxed lounge area, it’s easy to keep the good vibes going late into the night. The hotel provides a comfortable buffer from the city buzz, so you can crash in peace post-show.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a well-located, affordable base
  • Solo travelers catching a bucket-list gig
  • Couples making a fun weekend of their concert plans
  • Fans who want to be close—but not too close—to the party
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want comfort and convenience

Food and Drink Options

Fuel up before the gig or wind down after with a menu featuring international comfort food—pizza, pasta, burgers, and more. The lounge bar serves hot and cold drinks including alcohol, and there’s free breakfast with both cooked and continental choices. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the all-day dining menu keeps cravings covered.

Nightlife Options

Though the hotel itself is more about comfort than clubbing, it’s within easy reach of Bristol’s after-dark scene. Walk to nearby pubs, indie bars, and music lounges, or hop on public transport from Temple Meads to get deeper into the city’s nightlife.

What People Say

Guests love the unbeatable location for travel and venue access, with many praising the friendly staff and clean, modern rooms. The breakfast quality and value for money are consistent highlights, especially for those catching early trains after a night out.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention the rooms can be on the compact side, especially for groups with lots of gear or luggage. Onsite parking is available but comes at an extra cost, and spaces can be limited during busy times.

The Bottom Line

For an affordable, central base that keeps you close to the music but far from the chaos, Holiday Inn Express Bristol City Centre hits all the right notes.

Passable for a couple of...

Liked: The staff where very pleasant, the location was central to where I needed to be.
Disliked: The parking was less than satisfactory. I had booked secure parking but could not fit my vehicle in the car park, I was told I would have to use the public car park but was warned that there where a group of people living in the car park and that the safety of my vehicle and the contents that could not be removed where not guaranteed. I did consider not staying here but from the room I was staying in I had a partial view of the car park so that gave me some comfort. A max height warning on the advertisement when booking would have solved this.

An ever-reliable option close to...

Liked: I've stayed at this hotel a number of times and always find it a reliable option close to Templemeads railway station. The basic, double rooms are a reasonable size and the beds comfortable, and it was pleasant to be offered room choices. Staff are efficient making check in straightforward. The breakfast choices are standard rather than outstanding.
Disliked: There's nothing to dislike at this mid-range hotel - it successfully delivers what it offers.
