The Spotlight on Holiday Inn Edinburgh

Comfy Convenience West of the City

Modern and welcoming, the Holiday Inn Edinburgh sits just west of the city centre, offering a relaxed base with excellent transport links. Located next to Edinburgh Zoo and near Murrayfield Stadium, this full-service hotel is perfect for fans looking for space to unwind after a big night out. With views of the Pentland Hills, a pool, and a health club on-site, it’s a great mix of leisure and location.

Rooms are spacious and air-conditioned, with free Wi-Fi, satellite TV, and tea and coffee facilities—everything you need for a restful stay. There's also free parking, which is rare and valuable in Edinburgh.

Check-in from 15:00 | Check-out by 12:00

Why Concert-goers love it

Being close to Murrayfield Stadium is a major plus, but this hotel also offers easy bus access to venues in the city centre—buses stop just a 5-minute walk away and run late. After the show, you’ll appreciate the quiet location away from the bustle, as well as the late check-out time of 12:00 for a more leisurely morning. The hotel’s lounge is ideal for a nightcap, and the spa and sauna are a nice recovery touch.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends wanting space and value
- Solo travellers chasing a bucket-list gig
- Couples planning a concert weekend and some sightseeing
- Fans looking for a quieter place to recharge after the show
- Budget-conscious music lovers who appreciate free parking and public transport links

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s international restaurant serves up buffet breakfasts that run late enough for post-concert lie-ins. There's also a cocktail lounge for pre-show drinks or late bites. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the on-site dining covers most needs, and you're a short bus ride from Edinburgh’s late-night food scene.

Nightlife Options

Although not in the heart of the action, you’re just a few minutes by bus or cab from the bars and clubs of Edinburgh’s New Town and Old Town. The hotel’s cocktail lounge is a chill spot for those who prefer something more laid-back after a loud night out.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff and the hotel’s convenience for concerts at Murrayfield. The clean, spacious rooms and solid buffet breakfast stand out in many reviews. Visitors also appreciate the peaceful location and the bonus of free parking, especially when coming from outside the city.

Areas for Improvement

Some rooms are undergoing refurbishment (until February 2024), so you may notice a bit of disruption. A few guests mention that the decor in non-renovated rooms feels dated, and being slightly outside the city centre means relying on transport for nightlife—but with good bus links, that’s rarely a deal-breaker.

The Bottom Line

Holiday Inn Edinburgh is a smart pick for concert-goers who want comfort, space, and convenience just outside the city buzz.

We enjoyed our two night...

Liked: Hotel is in an excellent location and the staff were lovely. Our room was very clean with an excellent view towards the hills.Children eat free which was a bonus as was the late checkout. We also made use of the swimming pool which was also free to use.
Disliked: Food was average with some breakfast items i.e. the bacon being over cooked. Drinks are quite expensive-£7 for a shandy which I had to explain to staff how to make.

Disliked: We had very noisy neighbours and had to ask staff to speak to themOne day our room was not cleaned even though we were out all morning. There were no USB charging points for phones, so we had to buy a plug.Due to roadworks, it took a long time to get into Edinburgh by bus.

Superb

Liked: All the staff where so friendly and really helpful. Love that there was a shop with the swimming pool. Being able to hear some animal noises from the zoo was so fun as well! Really enjoyed our stay here!
Disliked: Bathroom was a bit in need of an update and no WiFi in the rooms. Wasn't told if we needed to pay extra or not for this!
