My stay was an absolute...
Liked: This historic property was absolutely amazing in every way!! Within walking distance of all things historic Charleston, 86 Church st. Provides the perfect base for the adventurous traveler. If you are a foodie, like my wife and I, this location provides a wide range of dining experiences all just a leisurely stroll away. Perhaps you are taking in a bit of history during your stay or just want to relax in the spacious, well lit, and surprisingly quiet courtyard, you will find it all obtainable with minimal effort at 86 Church.
Disliked: Everything was perfect in the smaller house for our level of mobility but I will say if you do have mobility issues you may want to opt for the larger house located on the property. I read a lot of reviews before choosing 86 Church st. and I will admit I was worried about the small steps leading to the second level. The steps were definitely narrow and not suitable for carrying luggage up or down but there were very suitable stairs on the outside of the house built to address this very issue. The steps on the interior of the house, in my opinion, only add to the charm and speak to the history of the house but I can see that someone with major mobility issues would not be comfortable navigating the interior stairs. All that aside don’t be discouraged by other reviews. You won’t be rushing down these stairs for sure. Keeping with the atmosphere that is Charleston this quirky little staircase reminded me to slow down, take my time, and enjoy the rich history of this beautiful city I was so fortunate to experience.

Interesting historical place lacking any...
Liked: Quaint & historic. Good location esp if you can walk a lot. We had to Uber everywhere
Disliked: Bathroom located on 2nd fl. Old spiral staircase to get there (rope railing). Or you can access bedroom /bath through an outside straight staircase (esp for luggage). Any guest requiring help with luggage will not find it here. Pack light! We are 64 & 68 and while the bed was very comfortable the overall experience was just ok. Breakfast was a package of 4 muffins & OJ & milk left in the frig. And coffee machine.

A charming place needing some...
Liked: Location and charm were excellent
Disliked: The property needs TLC. There were many small items that needed repair such as a broken faucet in the shower, parquet squares coming up, and sagging window blinds. The advertised breakfast was do it yourself with stale coffee and plastic packaged supermarket muffins . I really wanted to love this place, but I just couldn’t.

Very much enjoyed our stay...
Liked: Lovely quirky little cottage, right in the heart of the historic district. We were able to walk to all of the places of interest without having to use the car.
Disliked: Would be quite tricky to negotiate the little internal staircase with any level of mobility disability . The shower was not very efficient, but then this is a very old property and so some quirks have to be accepted.

We had a great time...
Liked: Judy and Phillip were great hosts and the place was as expected.
Disliked: Our only challenge was getting the suitcase up the narrow steps but we just kept it downstairs.
