I paid for a garden tub and didn't get it. I forgot my cigarettes in my car, which was valet parked. I sent the valet guy to get my cigarettes and he came with one pack. I had 3 in my car, so somebody stole 2 packs of cigarettes.

Ridiculously expensive. Would not return
Liked: Great front desk staff. Friendly and competent. Generous amounts of water and coffee, fixed the elevator quickly, nice lobby
Disliked: The room was dirty. Anything dropped or put on the floor looked like it had been dropped in dirt. Bathroom had old residue from the last guests. Ridiculously small shampoo tube (why bother really) had been re-filled so carelessly there was shampoo dried all over the outside of it. The linens were clean but in bad shape (torn, worn etc). The room was so small there is not room for 2 people to stay comfortably. About 4 hangars in a minuscule makeshift closet. Tiny window looking out on rusted equipment. Very little natural light. Depressing. Next to the gym, heard people running on the treadmill and dropping, slamming weights from 7am all weekend.

Good location and cheerful staff...
Liked: Right on the doorstep of Northwestern University and an easy walk to the cafes and shops of Evanston. Cheerful reception and valet staff.
Disliked: The hotel itself is tired with a cramped foyer and ageing carpets throughout. A single elevator was too slow. The alternative - the staff elevator - is decrepit and peeling. Our room was at the rear, overlooking the air conditioning units so it was impossible to get a good night's sleep. Hand sanitiser dispensers by the elevators were empty so we asked for refills. Five days later when we left they were still empty.

Very poor
Liked: The location is convenient and nice.
Disliked: I've stayed here multiple times now. This hotel has a great location, but that's about all it has going for it. The walls are incredibly thin- you'll hear everything. The bedding is so thin that they keep a stock of extra blankets at reception for when people complain. Various things in the room tend to be broken. The blinds in some rooms dont fully close. Quite a few rooms face onto a back alley that is lined with dumpsters that are emptied daily, and loudly, at 5am. Requests to be moved away from this awful racket will not be entertained. Some of the staff are great, but several people are incompetent and do not care at all about their job at all. Finally, the booking.com rate does *NOT* transfer over correctly. Thus, if you don't check with how much they're charging you, you'll end up paying more than you booked it for. This is easy to fix with the good staff, but the bad staff will be no help on this.
