I paid for a garden tub and didn't get it. I forgot my cigarettes in my car, which was valet parked. I sent the valet guy to get my cigarettes and he came with one pack. I had 3 in my car, so somebody stole 2 packs of cigarettes.

Once we had a quiet...
Liked: The Hilton Orrington location could not be better. A block away from Northwestern, a few blocks from the Metra and the Purple line, and a short walk to the lake. Loads of good coffee shops and restaurants nearby. The rooms were very clean and comfortably appointed, and the staff were exceptionally helpful. Sophia, in particular, who checked us in, went out of her way to make sure we felt welcome and went above and beyond to try to ensure a good room change when we had issues with our first room.
Disliked: The first room we were assigned was in a back corner by the air system generators on the third floor. The room was below roof level, so the window wasn’t really a window and the room was quite noisy with a big pillar awkwardly placed in the middle. We checked in close to midnight, and I was downstairs at 5:20 the next morning to ask for a room change. The second room they tried to give us was on a higher floor in the same noisy corner by the generators. We asked not to be in the corner, and were placed in a room facing the back of the hotel with a real window. The room we were finally given was very nice, but I think we shouldn’t have had to be offered another noisy room before being placed someplace quiet. Particularly when I told registration that I wanted a quiet room “not near the ice machines, pool equipment, or generators”.

Terrible hotel!
Liked: Sophia who worked at the front desk was amazing and so kind.
Disliked: Tiny rooms, a bathroom so small you can barely fit, only one elevator worked, and needs a lot of updating

Disappointing
Liked: Great location
Disliked: One elevator was out of service for remodeling, so the remaining elevator was often full. The sink in the bathroom was wall mounted and zero counter space, which is not practical. The bathroom was big enough, but very poor design choice. Absolutely no place to keep toiletries in the bathroom.Only parking available was valet. I chose to park my car myself in the nearby Church Street garage and it was cheaper and more accessible.

Great Family Get-Away Destination Property
Liked: Stayed a few times over the past 6 years. Love the location. With the elevator being down, we were still able to get down back-and-forth. Our last day there was an alarm for a fire notification but I feel the staff handled it well. Although the alarm message could’ve stopped once everything was clear, but it did keep going.
Disliked: The restaurant which is separate I believe from the hotel. We ate there on our first night and no one really liked their entrées and the food was way overpriced, especially if you’re traveling with kids. If you can ask them, they need to change up their menu to reflect a selection for families traveling with kids and decent priced entrees.

Great Walkability
Liked: I loved the location and walkability to so many great places… restaurants, the campus, and the lake!
Disliked: It was a little inconvenient that one of the elevators was out of service. It was often a long wait to get onto the elevator.

Clean, pleasant hotel, friendly and...
Liked: Cleanliness, location, friendly staff. The location is great, in a neighborhood full of nice restaurants, cafés, and quaint bookshops (try Amaranth).
Disliked: The room was too cramped, there was a large piece of furniture in front of the bed that left little space to pass, and the doors didn’t even close because the mini fridge was too big for it. The bathroom was incredibly tiny and seemed almost like an afterthought. Valet parking is very expensive and the hotel should offer a self-park option for a fraction of the price. However, there’s public parking nearby that is considerably cheaper.
