Lindsey, Harrisburg

The staff went out of their way to help me in and out of my room. When asked a question or asked to do something they went above and beyond. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Liked: Staff was very friendly and helpful.

New York trips are always...

Liked: In general, I love Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn hotels — they’re usually my first choice when traveling. All the reception staff I interacted with were friendly and professional. The Hilton Honors representative did try to sell me additional nights, but he wasn’t pushy, so I didn’t mind.
Disliked: understand that this is Manhattan, and even Hilton properties here may fall short compared to other locations in the U.S., but this Hilton was exceptionally disappointing. It’s a large hotel operating at full capacity, yet after one of the three elevators went out for maintenance, the remaining two malfunctioned so badly that I had to wait 20–30 minutes just to get downstairs from the 14th floor. Thankfully, I only stayed for two nights — it was a terrible experience. The hotel should also stop misleading guests about the availability of a self-parking garage. They don’t offer valet service directly from the hotel, but the nearby garage they use is valet-only and even uses car elevators. I had read so many terrible reviews about it that I chose not to park there. Instead, I parked a bit farther up at City Parking — great staff and, most importantly, a ramp. Still valet, though. In fact, there are no true self-parking garages in Manhattan — not a single one.

Disappointing

Liked: location
Disliked: the air conditioner didn't work, even after two attempts to repair it by the engineers. 81 Fahrenheit is too much. another room was also refused because there were supposedly no places. it's very hot in the summer, when it's impossible to sleep peacefully

Overall our stay was fine....

Liked: Location- easy to walk to tourist attractions in NYC. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Disliked: 1 of the 3 elevators was broken, so the wait for the elevator during the morning busy hour was so long we walked down 15 flights of stairs with our luggage. Our room door was a struggle to open and close. This feels like a safety concern. If I wasn’t watching my door could have stayed open without me being aware.
