Modern and welcoming, the Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Downtown South Loop puts you within walking distance of some of Chicago’s most iconic attractions—and just a short stroll or rideshare away from major concert venues. Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything, and this hotel delivers. You’re just a 13-minute walk from Grant Park and a quick ride to top concert venues across the Loop and Museum Campus. The 24-hour front desk and flexible 4 PM check-in make it easy to roll in late or head out early. The area stays lively, but the hotel itself offers a quieter, relaxed atmosphere—ideal after a loud night out. Plus, private parking and easy access to public transportation make getting to and from shows stress-free.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a central base with shared lounge spaces
  • Solo travelers catching a bucket-list gig
  • Couples planning a music-filled weekend getaway
  • Fans seeking peace and quiet after the encore
  • Budget-conscious travelers who still want downtown access without breaking the bank

Food and Drink Options

The on-site restaurant serves up à la carte and American breakfasts—perfect for sleeping in after a night out. While there’s no mention of 24/7 room service, the room service menu is available during standard hours. You’re also just steps away from South Loop eateries offering everything from late-night slices to upscale bites, so you’ll never go hungry post-show.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel doesn’t host live music itself, you’re in prime position to explore nearby nightlife. Bars, lounges, and clubs are all within walking distance or a short Lyft away. For something more relaxed, grab a drink at the hotel bar or head to a local spot featuring craft cocktails and local brews—this is Chicago, after all.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise the cleanliness, super friendly staff, and comfortable rooms. The indoor pool and hot tub are standout amenities, especially for those looking to unwind post-concert. Travelers also love the location—it’s close to attractions but not in an overly chaotic area.

Areas for Improvement

Parking is available but comes at an extra cost, and some guests mention that the surrounding area can be quiet at night—not a major issue, but something to note if you're looking to keep the party going. Also, some rooms are on the smaller side, so pack smart if you're traveling with a group.

Great potential. Unprofessional staff. Unfortunately...

Liked: Beautiful View, Clean, Comfortable room.
Disliked: Valet Drove my car very recklessly through the parking garage, wasn’t until the next day when I watched the dashcam footage and realized. To say the least, I was Furious. I Called the hotel, emailed them the video, was told they would report it and get back to me, now a week has gone by and I still haven’t heard anything from them. Very disappointed with the employees of this hotel.

Liked: We had a corner king room, the view was amazing!
Disliked: Only down side is sharing the pool and hot tub with the other hotel, it gets pretty packed.

We loved the location, didn’t...

Liked: The location is great, walking distance to many attractions and GREAT food. The staff did at least take our concerns seriously after some pushing to help out. The pool, though a little crowded, was nice too!
Disliked: The room we stayed in for the first night & day was 79-81 degrees at all times. The AC was set at or below 70, but the room never got below 79 while we were in there. We slept that way the first night hoping that it was just that the main power switch was initially turned off, but we both woke up sweating in the morning. The next day, we told the front desk and they sent maintenance in later that day. We stopped back at our room from our museum visit and the room was cooler, but still not as cool as the thermostat said it should be. We assumed it was working on cooling down and went to our event. We got back around 11:30 and found that the room was back up to 81. We called the front desk and were informed that maintenance was no longer there, but they would check if there was another room. We waited in the room for a callback for about 20 minutes. I decided to go downstairs to check in with the woman I talked to and she told me they were really booked up, but she would look (what were you doing in that 20 minutes before I came down?). Eventually after standing there at the desk for about another 20 minutes, she found us another room. It was much smaller and clearly used (when I say used, the bed was unmade like someone slept in it, open water bottles, half-drank coffee - thankfully they hadn’t used the bathroom much it seemed like). My husband and I moved our bedding 2 floors at 12AM so we didn’t have to sleep in the used bedding (we did ask for new bedding at the front desk, but all we could get was new pillow cases and 2 sheets). Not that it was a huge deal, but our shower handle was broken too. While I was down there talking to them about our maintenance request, there was another gentleman down there telling them he had the same issue with his shower handle among other things he was dealing with in his room. We’ve stayed here before and it was nice, but the experience was prettyyyy rough this go around.

Good

Liked: Spacious room with nice view. Good beds.
Disliked: The aircon could not match the current heatwave. Hence a lot of noice but still very warm room = hard to sleep. Gym with no aircon (30c+ degrees)
