Liked: Room was super with a great view. The breakfast was exceptional with a very efficient staff.

Staff were so nice and...
Liked: Very central - close to station - just easy to get around to anywhere you wanted to go.
Disliked: Works being done - banging from 9am - squeaking floor (could hear those from floor above).

Perfect hotel to stay at...
Liked: Newly renovated rooms were really spacious, clean and a pleasure to stay in.
Disliked: As all city hotels, parking was complicated. There was also building work happening. And it seems check out time is an excuse for all guests to congregate at the reception desk at the same time, perhaps this could be looked ot, or check out before breakfast?

Poor
Liked: Room would have been nice if not for the scaffolding and work men literally outside the window - they could see in and made my wife feel awkward getting ready.
Disliked: They didn’t tell us work was going on. Woke up early with men working. The lounge staff weren’t refilling the canapé parts. It’s not really acceptable to charge £200 plus for a room with no privacy unless you shut the curtains. It would have been a really nice hotel but they need to be making guests aware of the conditions especially saying that men will be working within feet of your window and can see in. It was my wife and her mam staying in the room. No tea but room had coffee. Minibar was empty. Photo attached - we would have booked a different hotel had we known.

Ideal location for exploring the...
Liked: Location was ideal for exploring Edinburgh. The room was very large but I didn't have a very good view. There were obviously very old wood floors under the carpet because they would squeak when I walked. The bathroom was great. Large walk-in shower, very hot water with good spray power. The restaurant had a small bar section which was ideal for relaxing after a long day exploring.
Disliked: Hotel is on the High Street which requires walking up 104 stairs up from the train station. Or you walk around the "block" which is about a mile. Suggest taking a taxi if towing luggage from the train station. Hotel had an elevator that accessed the Market Street Train Station level (-4) but couldn't access it going back up to the hotel. Staff said the reader didn't work...and they never answered the intercom.... Had to walk another mile just to get up to the High Street level.
