Great location, but poor communication,...

Liked: The location was great and convenient for getting around.Check-in was smooth and staff were polite when I arrived.
Disliked: The property did not look like the photos advertised online. There was mould on the shower curtain, and a hole in the bathroom door, which made the room feel poorly maintained.Communication was very poor — emails were not responded to, and despite multiple calls, I was never able to speak with the manager. Promises for call-backs were not kept. The refund process took longer than 48 hours and required involving the booking website since the hotel did not respond to them either.

Unsafe and unacceptable conditions –...

Disliked: I booked a room at Highlands Hotel and Bar, Hastings through Booking.com and was shocked by the conditions I found upon arrival. The room was completely unsafe and uninhabitable:Plaster was literally falling from the walls onto the bed and floor,Damp patches and cracks were clearly visible,The overall hygiene and safety were far below any acceptable standard. This was not only extremely disappointing but also a serious health and safety hazard. The photos I took clearly show how dangerous and unacceptable the conditions were. The hotel description online is misleading and does not reflect reality. I had to file a formal complaint and request a refund.⚠️ I strongly advise future travelers to avoid this property. There are many other hotels in Hastings that respect basic hygiene and guest safety.

Towers of the most Fawlty....

Liked: Very central location for the town and beaches.A Wonderful old stone building with loads of interesting history.Well stocked bar, not too pricey with friendly locals.
Disliked: Very Limited Parking out front for 3 or 4 cars only. On street parking is then chocka block, we parked a way up the hill away from the hotel. Cheap Laminate floor in room, hardly screamed comfort or luxury.Uncomfortable Double Bed with pillows flatter than Maggie Thatchers Breasts.Worn & Dirty carpets in Hallways and on the stairs.Paint bubbling and peeling in the room with strong smell of damp, esp in bathroom.Blinds didn't operate correctly, no curtains so it was bright in the morning. Black mold around the shower floor. Broken shower head meant you had to jam and balance the hose - showering was interesting due to the level of skill required for a normal sized person to turn in such a tiny space and not knock off the shower head or alter the pressure or temperature of the shower... This was an unexpected challenge but provided excitement and surprises - amusing. There was also a medium sized red spider and two crickets in the bathroom - this was an unexpected zoological feature of the room. I'm sure David Bellamy would approve. My partner dropped an earring and it rolled under the bed... Again we were suprised that there were considerable items to be found under the bed! I suppose it is much easier for the cleaners to simply kick all the room shrapnel under the beds rather than hiring the occasional skip and ridding the room of the copious amounts of leftovers. Considering the price of the room? We expected much, much more.

Need to renew some things...

Liked: Just a single bed is comfortable. I like the look of building but inside would do more update.
Disliked: Didn't like the moulds on the wall in the shower room. No breakfast as I was expecting they do breakfast.
