Conveniently located, near metro stations....

Liked: Near two metro stations, ~20 min from Midtown, ~40 min from Lower Manhattan. Close to Central Park. Good WiFi. Helpful staff. Room and bed were ok. Very clean.
Disliked: Only drawback for the one night I stayed was that the AC did not work at all. Could be a problem if staying for longer..

HI New York is a...

Liked: Access to subway, food, and groceries. Kitchen was huge and well stocked. The building and rooms were very clean.
Disliked: Designated smoking area was on the street and I was solicited every time I went out for a cigarette. I know smokers aren't catered to anymore, but inclusivity means everyone. A spot just a little less on the street would be great. Also, the room was much too warm.

Great facilities, decent location, a...

Liked: Staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The privacy curtain and lockers with lights and charging ports in them were great, too. I never had to wait to use the restroom. The wifi was fast and reliable, and there were many opportunities to meet other people. It was very close to the 1 train and M60 bus to LaGuardia.
Disliked: The building was HOT. Woke up several times in the middle of the night sweating. I even debated leaving and staying somewhere else because it was too hot. I also booked for two nights, but they made me switch rooms after night 1 because no bunks were available for two straight nights. It was a bit inconvenient.

I will recommend HI NY...

Liked: The location is great, it is close to the subway. I felt safe walking in the area in the day and at night. The room is exactly what I thought it would be, I slept well, I had no problems with the other individuals I shared the room with. The staff to a great job it keeping the place clean. The facilities at the Hostel exceeded my expectations.
Disliked: The Laundry was closed the day before I left and that was my biggest disappointment. They did not give an explanation as to why
