Liked: Cute environment with lots of space to chill and meet people or be alone! The coffeeshop had lots of good options, and just a great atmosphere.
Disliked: My bed wasn't cleaned (was slept in/used) when I got there, but the staff got it made up pretty quickly so then it was fine.

Liked: The location is great!
Disliked: Some staffs are not nice or friendly ! I change my plan and decide to spend one more night there. I told them my plan ahead of time. But they asked me to pack all my luggage and bring it to the front desk, and then they just gave me the same bed in the same room, even without changing the sheet after three nights! I told them I could stay in the same bed and I didn?t want to pack my luggage, but they insisted me pack my luggage, take all my luggage downstairs and then gave me the same bed again. How ridiculous and stupid!

Liked: Great breakfast options, super close to the subway, beds were comfy
Disliked: A bit far from downtown, not enough showers and toilets..

Liked: Location- Although not in the centre of New York, there is two subway stations within a few minutes walking distance of the hostel.103rd Broadway (line 1) goes all the way to south ferry)103rd central park (line C goes to alot of places in central Manhattan /brooklyn and is good for catching other subways at connecting stations. At both stations the subways are very regular, I didn't even look at what times to get the subway I just turned up and there was always one within 10 mins of me arriving.Great outdoor area to just chill out.Like the fact lockers are available for when you have checked out but need to store your luggage, although think the $5 per locker is a little bit expensive especially for the travellers on a small budget
Disliked: When I checked in, the man (sorry I didnt get his name) wasnt very welcoming. He pretty much just said I need your I'd and money and handed me my room key. I did spot other guests over the course of the week receive a warm welcome from the other staff members. When I arrived in the room it smelt very strongly of damp and the smell just lingered all week as we were unable to open the window for some much needed fresh air due to the opening being painted over. (Room 218)One of the ladys in the cafe (sorry she never had a name badge on, white lady with short dark hair, worked evenings) was well just plain miserable and like it was a massive effort to serve me, despite the fact it was her job.(it wasnt just a one off, she was like this every day)I had read in other reviews that premium rooms had curtains on the beds hence why I booked a female only premium room (I like the feeling of having my own space in a shared room), however our beds did not have curtains. Not sure actually what the difference is in the standard and premium rooms other than the premium has a couple of less beds in, so what is the rational for the big difference in prices.

Liked: Typical HI, clean, big, busy hostel, good location near subway and Central Park. The free breakfast options are really good.
Disliked: A little far from mid town and lower Manhattan.

Worst hostel I've stayed at
Liked: Only positive thing I can say is that the cafe and patio downstairs were quite nice and offered a number of convenient facilities like a deli, comfy couches and chargers. Of yeah and the location was good.
Disliked: Had a terrible stay, first of all the price is insane compared to other hostels I've been though (though for NY standards it may not have been that crazy). Then you have to pay $4 a night extra because you are not a member (why is that?!) and on top of that you need to pay for a padlock. My bed wasn't cleaned on arrival and the room I stayed in smelled like feet. The bed was uncomfortable and the linen limited. There was almost always a queue at the reception too.

Liked: It's near the subway line, has drug store, Starbucks and Whole Foods nearby.
All the facilities are amazing and the staff very helpful.
Oh, and the "Mirror yoga teacher" is amazing!
I really recommend the Hostel for your New York trip!
Disliked: I think that could be more restrooms. During the morning and at the end of the day it was impossible to have a space.
