Liked: It actually looks like a castle:).
Disliked: The bathroom was very small, and the shower was less than 10 square feet! You could not even turn around in it and the water from the shower splashed up around the toilet and ran back onto our feet! Other than that it was wonderful:).

Sad to see such a...

Liked: Location
Disliked: We didn?t even actually stay at Henderson Castle, but a secondary house they had down the road. False advertising! Grounds were not cared for Room was not clean, dirty tampon wrapper under the sink and dead bugs everywhere. Bed frame it?s self was twisted and bad actually bowed in the middle. The hot tub was 112, too hot to sit in and enjoy. We had a bat flying around in our room in the middle of the night. Breakfast was only served from 8 to 930 and I believe we were even told the wrong time so we unfortunately missed our included breakfast. Even though we were up there at 9:30 to nothing was offered to us. As I said we were not at the castle, but a secondary house just down the road which the craftsmanship and construction was terrible. Garbage bag wrapped around the towel which held up the air conditioner, curtain for a bathroom door, Extension cords exposed and laying all around, mattress and box springs on the floor. It?s really sad because I stayed here at Henderson Castle about five years ago and had one of the most magical experiences ever so to return and see it in such disrepair and the condition was just heartbreaking :( sadly we won?t be going back.. Definitely not worth the $185 spent!!

Enjoyable stay! Made some memories!

Liked: I loved the beauty of the grounds, and the history of the castle. The staff were all extremely polite and friendly.
Disliked: There was work being done on the roof, which made it a bit noisy during the day. The food was pricey.

Staff made up for shortfalls,...

Liked: Rated Great: Staff, food (albeit expensive), overall character of house (amazing), bed very comfortable
Disliked: Needs work: grounds were messy, "improvements" were shoddy & didn't fit the character of the home -- they need an interior designer & professional builder/carpenter for that type of work. Some of the furniture fit more in a college dorm than an 1800's era B&B. Left me wondering: outside food & drink not permitted -- where's the onsite snack bar so folks can buy bottled water & snacks?

Liked: The room was comfy, bed was pleasant
Disliked: when booking I thought we were in the castle when we arrived we were in a home off the grounds of the castle. The breakfast only consisted of a roll, small fruit cup and 1/4 cup of yogurt, in order to up grade we were told to take the survey which I felt like I was being forced so we could have a more traditional breakfast which was very good. It was not the experience that I was looking for when booking

Efficient but did not meet...

Liked: The staff was very friendly. The lobby was beautiful.
Disliked: The cottage A that I stayed in had an extremely awkward entrance. The door swung out instead of in causing you to be closed off in the same entrance hall easily bumping the cottage B door and glass shelves in the hall with my small luggage. There was trash behind the building and limited parking due to construction. The mattress on the Murphy bed was not comfortable. The decor and layout of the room did not meet expectations of the beautiful historical exterior. The bathroom seriously lacks shelving and towel racks. The shower is awkward and slick when wet. The entire bathroom gets wet when you take a shower. Just want what I expected at all.

Liked: It was nice to stay in an older property. Very nice structure, off the castle, in the house across the street.
Disliked: I wish I had paid closer attention to the description of the location of the private bathroom when I booked. It was not convenient to have to walk through the kitchen from the Ihling Room (where I stayed) every time I needed acces to the private bathroom. Also, construction at the property made parking a little dicey, although I was able to park.

A disappointing night instead of...

Liked: good breakfast but late start. I left and had to come back
Disliked: I thought I booked a room in the castle The description showed the castle and interior and said the room had a private bath across the hall. When I got there I was told that I would be housed in an overflow house across the street. I expressed my disappointment and shared that I wouldn't have booked to stay in a house. I was alone in the house and didn't feel safe. the room itself was hot but the bathroom which was not across the hall was freezing-uncomfortable for showering. Bed was very soft and uncomfortable. I had a long 10 hour driving day but only managed to sleep 3 hours.

Liked: Bed was awesome...slept like a baby
Disliked: Too stuffy and snobbish Not enough modern accessories or faculties within the rooms. Very small rooms in the castle.
