The Spotlight on Haymarket Hotel

Victorian Charm in Edinburgh's West End

Nestled down a cobbled street in the historic Haymarket district, the Haymarket Hotel combines classic elegance with modern comfort. Spread across six beautifully preserved Victorian townhouses, this stylish hotel offers a warm, heritage-rich stay just a short stroll from Edinburgh’s vibrant cultural and music scene. With individually decorated rooms, free WiFi, and a central location only 250 yards from Haymarket Railway Station, it’s a perfect city escape for concert-goers visiting Scotland's capital.

Why Concert-goers love it

The Haymarket Hotel is just 15 minutes on foot to central Edinburgh venues, and even closer to Murrayfield Stadium. With the Haymarket Railway Station and tram stops just around the corner, getting to and from gigs—even late at night—is super convenient. Despite its central location, the quiet cobbled street keeps things peaceful for that much-needed post-show unwind. Bonus: check-in starts at 15:00 and you'll have until 11:00 to sleep in after a big night.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a central but chill home base
- Solo travelers chasing a legendary live performance
- Couples making a musical weekend of it
- Fans wanting quiet recovery in a charming setting
- Budget-conscious music lovers seeking value in the city center

Food and Drink Options

Logan’s, the hotel’s stylish café-bar, serves up all-day coffee, drinks, and a full Scottish breakfast every morning—a definite perk after a late night out. While there’s no 24-hour room service, the area is packed with bistros, pubs, and restaurants within a 5-minute walk. Whether you're fueling up before the show or grabbing a bite after, you'll find plenty of options nearby.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is more about cozy comfort than late-night partying, you’re just a short walk or tram ride from Edinburgh’s buzzing nightlife. Enjoy bars and lounges in the West End or head towards the city center for live music spots and after-hours drinks. Logan’s bar is a relaxed place to start your evening with a local whisky or craft beer.

What People Say

Guests love the atmospheric setting in historic townhouses, the friendly staff, and the spot-on location for exploring Edinburgh and getting to events. Many mention the comfortable beds and appreciated the upscale touches in the deluxe rooms like bathrobes and Nespresso machines. Reviewers also praise the breakfast quality and the ease of public transport access.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that rooms at the front can pick up a bit of street noise, especially on weekends. Also, due to the building’s historic nature, there’s no elevator—so pack light or request a lower floor if stairs are a concern.

The Bottom Line

The Haymarket Hotel offers a blend of heritage charm and city convenience—perfect for concert-goers seeking comfort, culture, and easy access to Edinburgh’s live music venues.

Comfy bed; good breakfast; very nice staff. I came to town for a concert. The hotel was well located to the concert venue as well as the train station. I'd stay here again.

Disliked: Just wish face cloths had been in the room.

Wonderful place.

Liked: Quality towels and linen, comfortable beds. Great location near the tram or only about 20 min walk to the town centre. Staff were very nice. Plenty places to eat as well as a pharmacy close by.
Disliked: The only thing I would say is a better light blocking window covering, curtain or blind would help. Not used to sunlight late into the night made it hard to sleep. So bring an eye mask.

Luxurious stay with helpful staff...

Liked: The staff was wonderful - quickly booked an XL taxi on our behalf for the next day. They also suggested a different room to limit the number of steps, which was appreciated since my husband has issues walking. The room was gorgeous - beds were comfortable, and it felt more luxurious than I had anticipated.
Disliked: I wish I had known ahead of time that the hotel is a series of historic townhomes, which are gorgeous but all require stairs.

Good value for money

Liked: The location was convenient, not noisy. Family room was spacious enough for us 3. Breakfast was good. The staff was helpful and friendly.
Disliked: The family room we got was right under a breakfast place, so movement of chairs there from 7am was heard.
