Affordable, Social Vibes in the Heart of Manchester

Hatters Manchester Hostel brings laid-back charm to the bustling Manchester City Centre. Set in a character-filled Victorian building, this budget-friendly stay blends hostel-style social energy with useful comforts like 24-hour reception, free Wi-Fi, and a games room. Whether you're catching a gig or exploring the city, the location puts you within walking distance of major venues, nightlife, and transport links.

Why Concert-goers love it

You can’t beat the location—just a short stroll from Manchester’s key music venues and surrounded by late-night dining and transit options. The 24-hour front desk and round-the-clock access mean no stress getting back after a late show. The hostel’s relaxed vibe and communal spaces are perfect for swapping stories with fellow music fans, while free Wi-Fi and luggage storage make it easy to keep things simple before and after the gig.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking to stay social and save money
Solo travelers chasing a dream show with a built-in community vibe
Couples making a weekend of it on a budget
Fans needing a quiet wind-down space after the encore (opt for a private room!)
Budget-conscious music fans who want the basics done well

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, the hostel’s central location means you're surrounded by Manchester’s best late-night eats, cafes, and pubs. A fully-equipped communal kitchen is available if you're keen to cook up something post-show. Nearby bakeries and diners offer relaxed breakfast options after a late night.

Nightlife Options

You’re steps from Manchester’s thriving nightlife scene—think buzzing bars, indie pubs, and live-music hangouts. The hostel itself has a fun game room and chill communal areas that often turn into social hubs in the evenings.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff, central location, and easy vibe that makes meeting fellow travelers a breeze. Reviews highlight the hostel’s excellent value and accessibility to venues, shops, and public transport. Many mention how easy it is to crash here for a gig and be out exploring again the next morning.

Areas for Improvement

It’s a hostel, so expect a more basic setup—some guests mention older facilities and shared bathrooms. Noise from shared spaces can carry, so light sleepers might want earplugs or consider a private room.

The Bottom Line

For music lovers looking for a social, budget-friendly place to crash near the action, Hatters Manchester Hostel hits all the right notes.

Don't bother!

Liked: Not a thing!
Disliked: Arrived approx 12.00 for 1 night (booked as had an early flight the nxt morning) - staff told me check in was 14.00, but I could use the luggage hold (this consisted of a swipe card sitting on the desk for anyone to take/use). I returned to check in - advised by staff no lift was on third floor - with 30kg of luggage!! Staff also advised water was 'not worth showering on my floor' to go down to lower floor to use! Yeah that's ideal love to walk corridoors/stairs in towel as nowhere to safely store belongings! Arrived to room & realised I would not be staying: bed frame bent out of shape, mould and holes in walls, ceilings, window frames. No lockers in room, minimum lockers in hallway all either in use or with bent broken off doors. Went to check out the kitchen facilities all locked although staff had informed me they were open. Booked as seemed like a reasonable place for one night, however felt unsafe, unclean and uncomfortable - save yourself the time hassle and money and spend extra and book elsewhere.
