Very Disappointing for a 4...
Liked: Central location
Disliked: Air conditioning in bedrooms was broken, fans were provided but were noisy and didn’t cool the room down and therefore was very hot. Hairdryers were missing from the bedrooms but when requested they were brought up. Breakfast - limited choice of continental and hot breakfast wasn’t refilled and looked like it had been out sometime. No choice of coffees as coffee was out of a flask. Hot water also out of a flask and wasn’t hot enough for tea. Tables hadn’t been wiped or laid back up for the next breakfast lot.

2 star experience
Liked: Nothing
Disliked: Lady at check in desk was not very friendly or welcoming, we were only provided with one room key until I asked the next day and they made a big deal about going to find a spare room swipe card, at check in they tried to say we had no breakfast included and asked for proof which I showed, the room was dirty especially the windows, the room was overlooking a laneway with talking bollards constantly going up and down, the room was not cleaned during our stay (first time I’ve ever experienced this), breakfast was a joke, really disgusting, everything was so dirty, the staff were standing around talking to each other and not assisting anyone, coffee was in these pump containers, hot food was in a completely different room, and very very poor quality, felt quite unwell after eating here and did not eat breakfast on the second morning due to this. Overall this is like a 2 star hotel.

There's no love in this...
Liked: The welcome on reception during a busy time was exceptional. The staff were helpful, engaging and professional.
Disliked: Poor bar experience. The reason we booked the hotel was because of a really positive experience years before. We were, like many guests, paying an absolute premium for our rooms as we were going to see Bruce Springsteen at Anfield. This was due to be a massive event for us, both personally and financially.Staff were great - headline.Well, apart from the masked security guard/bouncer/manager who, at midnight (we had walked the 2 and a quarter miles from the stadium) after we had bought a couple of cocktails, announced we needed to move into the Breakfast area and away from the bar, to continue our evening. To us (and we work in the trade), there was not enough bar staff on. There was also a shortage on ingredients for the cocktails we wanted. Tables hadn't been cleared. So we were unceremoniously shifted. It was like moving to a hospital cafeteria. He also did it in such away that he was expecting trouble from everyone - that's all the actual guests of the actual hotel. It was embarrassing. There was no clear etiquette - so once we were in the infirmary-like bar, I had to go to reception to see if there was any chance of another round of drinks. Don't misunderstand - we are middle-aged rock fans who have just witnessed Paul Macca joining Bruce on stage, and what does The Hard Day's Night Beatles-themed Hotel do? Nothing. It was awful. Zero atmosphere, bright lights, extortionate breakfast set up, and yet, as already stated, a courteous staff (masked fury aside). The rooms were clean but tired. Also, an inconsistency around the offer - we booked 2 identical rooms but one didn't have a fridge or complimentary water.I don't understand how a themed hotel like this could fudge it so much. If security at midnight is a worry, ask the two blokes on the door (one in a mask) to check guests door keys on entry. And perhaps get an 18 year old on minimum wage to collect glasses and clean tables. It's not that hard.

Welcoming and fantastic central location
Liked: On arrival it was a lovely bonus that the room was ready early and we could settle in and relax before setting off for Bruce Springsteen concert at Anfield. The location was excellent for returning late from a concert after queuing for event bus.
