Nice but overpriced for what...

Liked: The location is lovelyThe decor and vibe is relaxed The breakfast was tasty
Disliked: Frustrated that I couldn’t use the spa for a chunk of the evening because there was a class going on at the same time and wasn’t allowed to use the facilities. The staff were not very helpful with giving information and I had to ask lots of questions to get the information I needed especially about the spa! The room was very very hot!! We couldn’t turn off the towel rail and the only fan was not working properly

Mediocre

Liked: Room was small and cramped. Food was very nice and with a lovely view from the dining room
Disliked: Didn’t like not having bed made or sheets changed or towels changed in my stay of 4 days. The third day the maids only emptied my bathroom bin and didn’t do anything else in the room. Managed to get some fresh towels from reception in the evening.Photos below are after room service.

Pleasant

Liked: The location was agreeable. The food and general hospitality was acceptable as were the leisure facilities
Disliked: Our room was exceptionally hot even though we had the window open and the fan on all through the night. We did ask for a replacement fan as ours would not oscillate but it was not provided. It made sleeping very challenging and we felt very tired by the end of our stay. We were very surprised that the rooms were not fitted with air conditioning.

Left a little disappointed with...

Liked: Great location, lovely friendly staff, good breakfast, nice and clean.
Disliked: £220 for a room which was so hot we had to leave our door open. Although a fan was provided it was not ideal and I would expect air conditioning for £220 per night. Also there was no way of turning off the boiling hot bathroom radiator which compounded the heat!

Disappointing

Liked: The staff were helpful. The food good. Location also good.
Disliked: The big disappointment was the noise 24/7 over our room from, we think, the kitchen extract fan. It was annoying enough during the day, but at night even worse and we had to sleep with earplugs - this in one of the most expensive rooms. What possessed the owners to fit industrial sized extract fans anywhere near bedrooms?Compounding matters our expensive room was located over the restaurant. The background music from which we could hear and had to ask for it to be turned down.For those reasons we shall never return and treat all other Harbour hotels with skepticism.In Sidmouth there are plenty of other 4star hotels with rave reviews.
