Disliked: The beds were too low and mattresses were too soft. Not enough electrical outlets. Looks like the place needs electrical upgrading

Disliked: The sink was in a small "room, or nook" across from the toilet and tub. Both rooms were on the small size.

Liked: I was originally booked at the Motel 6 down the street, but the reviews were actually scary! So I wanted to look for another option, and came across Harbor Base. It was a very basic place to lay your head at night, but it fit my needs. It was pretty clean, with the exception of the floors. My 7 year old niece took off her shoes and within a few minutes her feet were black as coal. She had to get in the tub to wash them. The furniture and curtains are extremely outdated and the furniture was chipped up, but it was fine to me for the length I was there. There is a fridge and microwave, that was nice to have. If you are looking for nothing at all close to fancy, but relatively clean, reasonably priced and safe, and just a place to sleep after hanging out in Newport all day, this is fine.

Clean and good value

Liked: The location was very convenient for getting to downtown Newport. The staff was friendly and the room was clean and nicely updated.
Disliked: Maybe this is not typical, but the motel office was locked in the morning, so we did not have access to coffee and I had to call the phone number on the door to find out how to check out. Better communication up front would be helpful. The property could also use some TLC around the exterior- it has a slightly abandoned feel.
