The Spotlight on Hanover Hotel

Affordable Charm Just Minutes from the Music

Modern comfort meets Victorian character at the Hanover Hotel, a budget-friendly stay in the heart of London’s Victoria district. Housed in a charming 1859 townhouse, this hotel blends classic British style with today’s essential amenities. With free Wi-Fi, 24-hour reception, and a convenient location just under 3,000 feet from London Victoria Station, it’s a smart base for concert-goers on the move.

Why Concert-goers love it

Just a short walk to Victoria Station, the Hanover Hotel gives you fast access to major tube lines and the Gatwick Express—perfect if you’re flying in for a show. The 24-hour front desk and late check-out (12:00) mean you can catch those late-night gigs without stress. Plus, its tucked-away street offers a surprisingly quiet night's sleep after the encore.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a central, affordable base
  • Solo travelers in town for a bucket-list concert
  • Couples making a weekend of their gig night
  • Fans needing a quiet, no-fuss spot to recharge post-show
  • Budget-conscious music fans who want value and location

Food and Drink Options

You’ll find plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, perfect for pre-gig bites or post-show drinks. While there’s no on-site restaurant, the hotel provides tea and coffee facilities in-room, and nearby options offer early breakfast or late-night snacks to keep you fuelled.

Nightlife Options

The Hanover Hotel is close to some of London’s best nightlife, with classic British pubs, cocktail lounges, and live music venues all within reach. While the hotel itself is low-key, its location means you can go from chill to thrill in just a few blocks.

What People Say

Guests love the location near Victoria Station, especially for quick transit to concert venues. Many mention the helpful staff, clean rooms, and the excellent value for money. The free Wi-Fi and luggage storage are also appreciated by those arriving early or leaving late.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are on the smaller side, and the building's age means there’s no elevator—so pack light if you're staying on an upper floor. Some guests noted that the decor could use a refresh, but it’s a fair trade for the price.

The Bottom Line

The Hanover Hotel is a solid, budget-friendly choice for concert-goers who want comfort, convenience, and character—all without breaking the bank.

Claustrophobic stay

Liked: The decor of the room and the quality of bathroom appliances.
Disliked: No lift! The rooms are extremely small. It felt cramped, we couldn’t move with the bags. No space to put the clothes either. Too expensive for what it is.

Superb

Disliked: As other people have said, great if you’re able bodied. There are no lifts that we could see and the stairs are steep. So it can be quite the trek if your in an upper floor

This was definitely a budget...

Liked: Room was clean, quiet and in a great location and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Disliked: Possibly the smallest single room in London, with a very narrow bed and uncomfortable mattress, on the fourth floor with no lift.

Not a 4-Star Hotel –...

Liked: Location is great close to Victoria station
Disliked: The Portico Hotel is marketed as a 4-star property, but it falls well short of that standard. At best, it's a functional 3-star. The rooms are extremely small, clearly the result of trying to cram in too many units. In our triple room, there were just three tiny shelves inside what might be the smallest wardrobe I've ever seen.Basic amenities are lacking – no iron provided, and there isn’t even space to set up an ironing board if there were one. Hairdryers and showers were either broken or barely functional, and there’s nowhere to hang clothes or put bags or suitcases, we had to put them in front of the door overnight, which is a fire escape hazard. On a positive note, the rooms were relatively clean and may be suitable for a one- or two-night stay if you're not planning to spend much time inside. However, I wouldn't recommend staying any longer.More concerning is the absence of a first aid kit on site, which is not only unacceptable but a legal requirement for a workplace setting. In summary: this hotel is misleadingly rated, lacks basic facilities, and falls short on safety compliance. Not somewhere I’d return to.
