Handlery Union Square Hotel

Our first time at the hotel, and we will be back. Staff was friendly; hotel was clean and very quiet. Easy to get to Chase Center from hotel on the Metro.

Liked: Room was clean and very quiet.
Disliked: Nothing bad.

I've worked in the hotel industry for a while so I am aware of how it operates. I've heard all the compliments and criticisms one could hear. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, and the staff were very helpful and pleasant; from the front desk agent, to the luggage greeters, to the night staff. It's conveniently located so I understand the pricing - I just thought the breakfast could have been priced a little more reasonably. However, I get it. I wish I knew the names of some of the members of the staff so I could mention them - they made me feel quite welcome and comfortable. Job well done.

Liked: Staff was incredible and the up keeping of hotel was fantastic.
Disliked: Breakfast was a bit pricey for what you're spending on a small room.

Liked: The location is superb, near shops, restaurants and bus/tram stops and metro.
Disliked: The carpet and the lightning

Great hotel, ideal location, lovely...

Liked: Hotel was in a central location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. It was great to have access to a heated pool after a day out and about especially as air temp wasn't high.
Disliked: Nothing we didn't like about the hotel however San Francisco is somewhat run down and you needed to have your wits about you when out and about. The poverty within the city is pretty obvious everywhere you go.

Liked: The room was comfortable.
Disliked: The shower was terrible, and the staff on check in were quite rude. We hadn’t even walked in the door properly and I was greeted with “credit card and name!” Not even a hello or how are you.

Comfortable, quiet and well located...

Liked: Hotel was very well located, near central city and close to the BART stop (Powell St). The area is busy and safe, but it does border the Tenderloin area which had a large number of homeless people on the pavement and which some visitors may find intimidating (although you need to walk a couple of blocks to get there). While the hotel wing we stayed in was a bit dated, the rooms were of a good size and very quiet with no issues of noised from adjacent rooms and very little noise from the street which our room faced out onto (we were on the 7th floor though). The beds were excellent, firm without being hard and very comfortable. Shower and water pressure was also very good (although was a shower over a bath).Staff were very friendly and helpful. The fitness centre was small and basic but adequate with two treadmills, two cross trainers and a small collection of free weights. Not that we used it, but the hotel also had a good looking swimming pool which was heated and a sauna (which you needed to make a booking for).The hotel offered great value for money in comparison to other places around the central city.
Disliked: It didn't bother us, but the coffee percolator was missing it's glass jug and there was no electric jug for heating water. Hot water was available from the fitness centre though.

Liked: It was a cute hotel. Bed was comfortable. I like having a bath and shower as an option. I also like having access to a swimming pool and the sauna was great too.
