Liked: Lovely atmosphere- beautifully appointed- comfy beds, great linen, excellent shower and extra large extra thick towels. Coffee machine, complimentary tea (great selection) and coffee with fresh milk on hand in the minibar - fully stocked honesty bar - it was just lovely and so welcoming
Disliked: Nothing much at all - couldn’t fault them

Overall good, despite the minor...

Liked: The room was fairly spacious, nicely decorated, and the bed very comfortable. The shower was great. The room was also very quiet, given that there was a busy pub below.
Disliked: The tv wouldn’t work - it turned on but just said no signal, no matter what we did. The room was very dusty, and the window frames filthy. One of the pillows had stains on it. The wifi was virtually useless - very slow. The plug in the sink didn’t work properly, so that the sink wouldn’t retain water.

Disappointing celebrations

Liked: The breakfast was good and it included some tasty sourdough bread.
Disliked: The most disappointing part was that I had booked two rooms for our sister in law’s birthday and my husband’s 70 th birthday but the roast dinner that we had gone for on our sister in law’s birthday we never had because we were only told when we tried to order that the roasts had run out. What made this worse was the fact that I had asked when we arrived if we needed to order our lunch earlier and whether the pub ever ran out of roasts, we were assured this didn’t happen!!!The next disappointment was when we tried to unlock our bedroom. The keycard didn’t work on a number of occasions on our bedroom and the outer lobby door outside our room as well as our brother and sister in law’s bedroom next door. Various members of staff tried to make this work but on at least 4 occasions going up and down the stairs they didn’t. On my husband’s birthday we were awoken by the dustcart collecting the glass bottles at the crack of dawn.There was only one bedside light so on the right side of the bed if you got up in the night you had no means of lighting the bedroom. Having had all these disappointing events we decided to go elsewhere for our dinner on my husband’s birthday, such a disappointment as I had tried to plan a special birthday treat for 2 members of our family and had booked this in December.Don’t book here for a special occasion. Not one member of staff acknowledged either birthday throughout our stay, very disappointing as many places pay some attention to this in various ways.
