The Spotlight on Hampton Inn By Hilton Washington-Downtown-Convention Center

Steps from DC’s Music Scene and Iconic Sights

Modern and welcoming, the Hampton Inn By Hilton Washington-Downtown-Convention Center puts you in the middle of it all. Just blocks from major landmarks like the White House and the Washington Monument, this hotel is also within walking distance of top concert venues and the Metro. With clean, comfortable rooms and thoughtful amenities, it's a smart choice for music lovers who want to explore the capital by day and catch live shows by night.

Guests enjoy a complimentary hot breakfast, plus access to a fitness center and indoor pool—perfect for unwinding after a high-energy night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

It's all about location. Whether you're heading to a show at the Capital One Arena or catching an outdoor concert on the National Mall, you’re just a short walk or Metro ride away. Despite being in the heart of the city, rooms are surprisingly quiet, offering a peaceful retreat after the encore. With late check-out at 12:00 PM and a central location near public transport, getting in and out—even late at night—is a breeze.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to be near bars, venues, and sightseeing
  • Solo travelers catching a dream concert downtown
  • Couples making a romantic weekend of it
  • Fans needing a mellow space to recover post-show
  • Budget-conscious music fans who want free breakfast and walkability

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant open late, the area surrounding the hotel is filled with walkable dining options, from fast casual to upscale. The free hot breakfast buffet is a huge plus—especially after a night out. Room service isn’t available 24/7, but plenty of delivery options are nearby, and the staff is helpful with recommendations.

Nightlife Options

You're just minutes from some of DC’s best bars and lounges, many of which offer live music and local craft drinks. While the hotel itself doesn’t host nightlife, its prime location means you're never far from the action—including nightclubs, rooftop bars, and cozy drinking spots in nearby neighborhoods like Shaw and Logan Circle.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise the central location, clean rooms, and friendly staff. Many mention how convenient it is for attending events at the nearby Convention Center or arena, and how easy it is to get around using the Metro. The free breakfast and solid Wi-Fi also get recurring thumbs-up.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the hotel can feel busy during major events, so elevator waits might be longer than usual. While the rooms are modern and tidy, they’re on the smaller side if you’re traveling with lots of gear. Parking is available but can be pricey—typical for downtown DC.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want to be close to the action without sacrificing comfort or convenience, this hotel hits all the right notes.

Very Good - 4.0 out of 5

Jessica, Hagerstown, visiting Sixth and I Historic Synagogue Sat, 10 November 2018

Staff at the front desk and valet are very polite and professional. The room was clean, with all expected amenities. The shower was nice and hot with great water pressure. The location definitely cannot be beaten, if you are attending a show at the Sixth and I. The only low point was the nasty bartender at the hotel, who started closing up and cleaning an hour before last call, and ignored everyone who came in between 10-10:30pm.

Liked: The staff at the front desk and valet were very polite and professional. Hotel was clean, with all expected amenities available.
Disliked: The bartender inside the hotel on 11-8-2018 was very rude. We came back from our show around 10:05, and wanted to get a drink at the hotel bar before heading up to our room for the night. I stood at the bar for over 10 minutes, while a lady picked up candles off the tables around the restaurant. I had no idea, she was the bartender! She made eye contact with me 3 times and still ignored me while she packed up the tables. Finally around 10:20, she came over and said 'what do you want?' We ordered 2 easy drinks and took them over to a table. Five minutes later, she came over and snatched the candle off our table. Then, at 10:35, she came back by our table and screamed that it was last call, then looked at her watch and said 'well, last call in 9 minutes!'. We had no intention of staying later, but quickly finished our drinks and headed out. I've never felt more unwelcome by a bartender in my life. If the bar is open until 11p.m., she shouldn't have been shutting the whole place down at 10pm.

Leeta, Charlottesville Sun, 17 September 2017

The overall stay was pleasant. The room was clean and the pool and bar area was very nice. But my A/C temperature wouldn't adjust and no one came to fix it. And the woman at the front desk was very rude.

Liked: The clean room.
Disliked: The woman at the front desk was making rude comments and my A/C didn't work.

Disliked: Front Desk Supervisor was extremely unwelcoming and rude. His behavior was very intolerant.First room given to us didnt have a running air conditioner. 2nd room thermostat wasn’t working. Front desk supervisor only reluctantly gave us a new room and that too after making me await in person for so long

Enjoyed it. Considering staying here...

Liked: Nice room, friendly staff, good location, good breakfast
Disliked: Valet parking. If I am spending a lot of money to stay in a hotel, I don't want to pay for parking on top of it. Plus, I want to be able to access my vehicle without relying on someone else.
