Had not stayed at a Hampton Inn before. The room was as good as any Marriott. The staff were all very friendly. Will stay here again rather than the Omni.

Beware: under major construction

Liked: Walkable to the UVA campus.
Disliked: The property was under major construction. If we had known this, we would not have stayed here. They should warn you about this before you commit and offer a discount. Learning this critical fact at the moment you show up (and after you have paid full value) was incredibly annoying, to say the least. If I did not already have good experiences with Hampton Inn at other locations, they would have lost a future customer.

It was unpleasant for such...

Liked: Close to my event
Disliked: Could not watch tv at all on Tuesday due to issues with network and channels, receptionist told me when checking in but I was hoping to watch at least one channel of something. Instead was in room listening to all the construction until 6 when i left for my event.

Terrible.

Liked: They were undergoing renovations, making it very noisy. The renovations caused many of the amenities to be unavailable. For example, there was no water from 11 am to 3 pm. I understand the need for renovation, but they did not notify us until after we arrived, which made it difficult to secure other accommodations. I would have liked a heads-up that nothing was working BEFORE arriving. The hotel was not worth the $500 I spent and I truly feel like I deserve a refund. It was a terrible experience and I won't be returning.

Disliked: Over priced and overrated. Renovations to property not told before purchase. customer service was horrible. They were very rude renovation started at 8 AM. We cannot get any sleep.

Annoyed that no one told...

Liked: the location was great.
Disliked: No one told me the property was under construction, so I feel like I paid an awful amount of money for a hotel under construction. In addition, the water was turned off for 4 hours one day but they put a note under our door with no date on it so we thought it was 2 days. It was just very frustrating. When I asked them, they told me that Booking.com should have told us they were under construction so I'm disappointed in the lack of communication!

Expensive but nice staff

Liked: Historical hotel , beautiful pictures in lobby, Large clean room , good breakfast , with in walking distance to UVA hospital. Staff was nice. I liked that the staff text you and make sure that everything is going good for you. Staff member Lenora is very nice and Janice also. but shouldn't have to pay for parking when they have their own parking lot.
Disliked: I did not like that you had to pay for parking when the hotel has there own parking lot . Just like any other hotel you parked at the hotel. that didn't make any sense to me at all.. but I paid it because had no choice already booked room and couldn't cancel it. would have lost money. hotel is expensive . It cost me $496.00 for 2 nights. that is a lot of money for 2 nights and $ 40.00 dollars of that was for parking.
