Fun night in GJ

Liked: spent a night in Grand Junction to check the area out. The hotel was in a nice area that was easy walking to restaurants and bars. Pool was nice but does sit right on the street. Room was comfortable and staff was very friendly. Covered parking was an unexpected benefit as well.

Disliked: Booked this hotel because I was going to have surgery and a hospital stay and my husband was staying at the hotel while I was in hospital, and both of us stayed a night after I was discharged. I was not told ahead of time that the hotel charges $11/night parking behind the hotel, but we agreed because the back entrance was adjacent to the elevator (we were in an accessible room on the top floor). There was no notification ahead of time, or even on the morning of the day I was discharged and would need to stay back at the hotel that the back parking lot would be closed to be resurfaced and the back entrance of hotel locked. We managed to nab the last parking spot in what was still left open (the lot next to our hotel was cordoned off) around 6pm and we got to the back door and it was locked. A man inside tried to open the door for us but the door is not equipped with a crash bar and cannot be opened in case of fire even, which surely must be a fire code violation. My husband rang the bell and we were told we had to walk around the block and come in the front, and when my husband tried to explain I had just had surgery the lady at the front desk said she was alone and she was checking someone in and hung up on us. She was rude but I suspect that this hotel is wildly understaffed, and everyone working there seemed pretty fed up. The room was ok, but the sliding door to the accessible bathroom weighed a ton, I don’t see how anyone in a wheelchair chair or not very mobile could easily use it. I had to have help opening and closing it. The toilet handle was broken, all of the appliances didn’t work, there was a live plug somewhere but we couldn’t figure out how to get to it, so couldn’t use the coffee maker or microwave. And the place smelled of stale cigarettes. I won’t be going back, but fortunately I don’t normally need to book hotels in GJ.

I'd stay again.

Liked: Breakfast was excellent. We chose the Inn because it's within walking distance to the train station. Mattress was awesome.
Disliked: We didn't like that we had to pay for parking, but it seems that's the way it is these days. There was a couple little bugaboos in the room but they addressed them immediately.
