Hampton Inn By Hilton And Suites New Haven - South - West Haven

Not an overly clean place. I found other people's body hair in the bathroom/shower. Sheets looked like they just remade the bed without actually changing the sheets, as I found specks and dried bodily fluids on the under side of the comforter. I was too tired to deal with it at the time and thankfully had another (seemingly clean) bed. I ripped off all the sheets off of both beds before leaving so hopefully they’ll get washed. Fridge did not work so the food I grabbed from next door ended up having to be thrown away. While checking out the receptionist was relatively cold. I let her know about the fridge and how I’d have to throw away my food. Her only response was “since you booked with a 3rd party website you’ll get your receipt from them” and turned away. I asked about a charge I had gotten on my card from the hotel, which she coldly said was for parking. They did not ask if I was driving nor let me know about it during check in. I was going to let her know about the state of the room when I arrived, but considering she was already nasty with me over something minor, I decided I’d just leave a review since clearly their staff wouldn’t care and would probably just get defensive.

Liked: It is located next to a Texas Roadhouse. I could eat and drink then just talk to my room.
Disliked: Room did not seem to be entirely cleaned. Found other people's hair in the shower. One of the beds looked like they just remade it without changing the sheets. Hotel staff was rude.

This was an OK experience....

Liked: The swimming pool was cloudy and so swimming wasn't an option. The staff, although not rude, were kind of smug. The staff working the counter could have been more engaging(remember, this is hospitality). The girl managing the breakfast area was wearing a frown for both mornings that we were there. Needless to say, she was not greeting anyone with a "good morning" which is unacceptable in the Hospitality business. In fact, the breakfast girl was not saying anything to anyone. She was just standing there looking miserable(kind of awkward). The room was very big with two queen size beds which I appreciated. The bathroom was also big. The water pressure was excellent. The fridge worked great. The air conditioning worked great. The elevator worked fine. The parking lot was fine. Full breakfast is included, which is great. I asked for extra blankets and it was no problem as the house keeping staff handed them to me right away. The room and bathroom were clean.
Disliked: Cloudy swimming pool. Smug, unfriendly staff. Bad wallpaper repairs inside of the room. I appreciate that the breakfast is included but it is mediocre. Our room was kind of expensive for everything considered. They try to scam you into paying for parking as they only mention the policy in "Fine Print" way down low on a page.

A sub-standard hotel

Liked: Bed was comfortable and it was quiet.
Disliked: Very disappointing for a Hampton Inn. Staff was not very helpful and not very welcoming. In Fact, some of the desk help was borderline incompetent. The food was unexceptional and one of the workers wasn't doing her job, she was just sitting around.. Overall, I would say it was a sub- standard operation. It seemed to me that the employees were more interested in their own comfort than that of their guests. I think the entire staff could benefit from more training in hospitality.

Disliked: Internet was terrible . Tryed to go in the pool with my daughter and there was like 20 or so people obviously from same family screaming obnoxiously kids running around like crazy with water guns doing flips. I am by no meaning a snot but someone should be watching the property more. Sorry to say i always stay at hampton inns but never this one again.
