The Spotlight on Hampton Inn By Hilton and Suites Minneapolis University Area MN

Modern Comfort Just Minutes from Minneapolis Music Venues

Stylish and welcoming, the Hampton Inn By Hilton and Suites Minneapolis University Area MN puts you right in the heart of the action. Located just a short walk from the University of Minnesota and TCF Bank Stadium, and only a short drive to U.S. Bank Stadium and Target Field, this hotel blends accessibility with comfort. With clean, modern rooms, an indoor pool, hot tub, and on-site bar, it's a solid home base for catching your favorite act in the city.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re just a 14-minute walk to TCF Bank Stadium and 3 miles from U.S. Bank Stadium, making it easy to catch a show without the stress of long commutes. After the encore, unwind in the hot tub or grab a nightcap at the on-site bar. The hotel’s location also means you’re close to public transit options and ride-share pickups. Plus, with 24-hour front desk service and a solid 3 p.m. check-in, it’s concert-goer friendly from start to finish.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends attending gigs together
- Solo travelers chasing that bucket-list tour
- Couples looking for a fun and cozy weekend
- Fans who need quiet downtime after the show
- Budget-conscious music fans wanting value and location

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no full-service restaurant, you'll find an on-site bar for drinks and light bites. The hotel offers a free hot breakfast—perfect after a late night out. For more hearty meals, there are several walkable dining options near the University of Minnesota area, and food delivery apps serve the location late into the night.

Nightlife Options

You're in the prime zone for nightlife. Head to nearby Dinkytown or Stadium Village for bars, breweries, and lounges, many of which stay open late. While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, the proximity to several key venues more than makes up for it. The on-site bar is a good spot for a quiet pre-show drink or a wind-down nightcap.

What People Say

Guests love the cleanliness of the rooms and the friendly, helpful staff. The location is a top highlight—close enough to venues without being loud or chaotic. The free breakfast and comfortable beds also get frequent praise, especially from concert-goers looking to recharge after a night out.

Areas for Improvement

Parking is available but comes with an additional fee, which some guests weren't expecting. The area is generally quiet, but a few reviewers noted that it can feel a little “too quiet” late at night if you're coming back from a show and looking for post-concert energy. Also, no on-site restaurant means late-night food is up to nearby spots or delivery.

The Bottom Line

A convenient, comfortable, and concert-friendly base for exploring Minneapolis' live music scene, especially if you're headed to a show at nearby stadiums or university venues.

BEST HOTEL NEAR UMN -...

Liked: The courtesy shuttle to UMN saved my day. Staff is wonderful, all the team went above and beyond to make me feel at ease. The hotel is clean though the carpet is outdated and spotted. With some renovation, it will be a 3-4 star. I would give it an A+ overall and 10/10. Better than most 4 stars hotels aound UMN....
Disliked: A bit outdated in terms of carpeting and furniture.

Overall very good.

Liked: Comfortable, clean, friendly staff.
Disliked: Some trash cans outside of the elevator smelled bad and weren't changed the whole time I was there. The location had some roadwork which made it much harder to leave or get into the parking lots during rush hour.

Ok

Liked: That hidden parking fee is complete bullshit! I’m not happy thinking this is all I’m paying just to get a rude surprise when I check in. I’m still bothered by it.
Disliked: Besides the parking fee, the lady that stands there and won’t leave you alone during breakfast is a bit much. She does too much. I just want to be left alone to eat it’s the morning she is all up in the business

Nice and pleasant stay with...

Liked: Breakfast met expectations and the staff was very friendly and efficient. The front desk staff was always very helpful and friendly, as well. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Liked the location for visiting the University of Minnesota. Close to public transportation.
Disliked: Didn't like that you had to pay for wifi if you wanted to do more than check email. Nothing else to say negatively about the facilities.
