Dinner - the food was delicious, well thought out and put together. Excellent wine choice too.

Liked: Everything was as described at the point of booking.

Liked: Lovely location, nice friendly staff. Good size room and great value.
Disliked: A rubbish bin liner was left full on bathroom floor..

Liked: Yeah I want a full refund bo kitchen facilities were working wasn't informed beforehand was told after I paid so a full refund will be due as a good will gesture we had to pay for taxis to another pub to eat and it was a very stressful experience this Will be on social media if I don't get a refund and the Northern echo to expose them

Don't stay in the summer!

Liked: Friendly staff and beautiful area. Very convenient location near A1 motor way and plenty of parking. EV charging available.
Disliked: small and dated room with no air flow at all, very difficult to sleep in the summer, had to ask for a fan from the reception.

Nice hotel but avoid if...

Disliked: This was an absolute nightmare stay. Arrived to find a loud wedding in progress. Spoke to the receptionist who said that I was in a different building and would not be disturbed. If she had been honest at that point I would have cancelled the booking.The room was quiet to start with, but guests appeared to move outside about 11pm shouting and swearing, and it became so noisy I had to close the window, which made the room very stuffy. At 1am was woken, apparently by a fight outside my room, and several bodies crashed into my bedroom door. When I shouted they ran away. The hall outside stank of alcohol, and they had obviously been drinking in that area.Since I had a 5am start this was obviously not ideal, and as a lone traveller I also felt unsafe.Spoke to the night watchman, who apologised that he just hadn’t managed to keep an eye on everywhere, and have emailed the hotel, but no response so far. Disappointed that the hotel accepted other bookings when obviously full of wedding guests, felt they were understaffed for managing the event, and that the receptionist was not honest about the level of disturbance.

Disliked: Restaurant lacked atmosphere

Dirty, expensive, terrible food presentation.

Liked: Appreciate an old hotel, it must clean and in good order however.
Disliked: Food prepared wasn’t up to standard, dirty room, dirty bathroom, cracked floor tiles with group missing which would harbour bacteria on the floor.
