Rooms come equipped with thoughtful touches like a private patio, seating area, refrigerator, and microwave — all with that island breeze right outside your door.

Why Concert-goers love it

While Captain Cook may be a bit removed from the major nightlife hubs, Hale-Hoola B & B is a favorite for concert-goers looking to escape the crowds and recharge. The serene setting is a welcome break after the noise and energy of a show. With free parking and flexible check-in from 2:00 PM, it’s easy to settle in whether you're arriving early or late. Plus, the quiet nights and ocean air make for excellent post-concert recovery.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends who want a peaceful base for island adventures
  • Solo travelers catching a once-in-a-lifetime performance
  • Couples turning a concert into a romantic weekend getaway

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, rooms include a microwave and refrigerator, making it easy to store and reheat late-night bites. The B&B is a short drive from several local eateries that stay open late, and a cozy outdoor seating area offers a great spot for a relaxed breakfast with ocean views. Though breakfast isn’t specified in the listing, many guests enjoy morning meals on their patios or in town.

Nightlife Options

You won’t find on-site bars or live music here, but that’s part of the charm. Guests often use Hale-Hoola B & B as a quiet retreat after enjoying the island’s music scene in nearby areas like Kona. For those craving a nightcap, you're just a scenic drive from local bars and lounges.

What People Say

Guests rave about the welcoming hosts, breathtaking ocean views, and the peaceful atmosphere. Many reviews highlight how restful the location is, especially after busy days or nights out. The homey feel and tropical gardens add to the sense of escape, and the ability to self-cater is a big plus for longer stays.

Areas for Improvement

This B&B is best suited for those with a car — public transport is limited in the area. Some guests mention the decor is a bit dated, but clean and well-kept. If you're looking for nightlife on your doorstep, you may want to stay closer to Kona, but if you value quiet and comfort, this is a gem.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers seeking a tranquil, affordable, and scenic place to rest after the show, Hale-Hoola B & B offers a true Hawaiian escape with all the comforts of home.

A nice spot if you...

Liked: Beautiful surroundings, good breakfast!
Disliked: A little bit of a damp smell, and our bed didn’t agree with either of our backs.

Comfortable home base, great food...

Liked: The breakfast was great. Really good fresh food. The deck that you eat on has a spectacular view and there are bird feeders right off the railing ensure you have some entertainment. Backing onto the nature reserve you do see some wildlife.
Disliked: Nothing.

Wonderful place to stay, close...

Liked: Our room was clean and comfortable, with a lovely view of the ocean from the spacious lanai. The property owners, Carl and Elma, were friendly and helpful, even when I was a Bad Guest and lost our room key (but I found it again!). Breakfast was substantial, delicious, and a bit different every day. Did I mention the gorgeous view?
Disliked: Nothing. It was all fabulous.

Backcountry feel with very welcoming...

Liked: Very welcoming host, Carl, and his wife Emma's delicious breakfast. The view of ocean and wildlife from our lanai (deck) was wonderful. Tropical plants, flowers, and birds on site, yet the convenient location is just off the main highway. The reasonably priced room was the best cost performance.
Disliked: Room walls were a little thin, but didn't bother us thanks to the quiet guests.

This was a perfect choice...

Liked: Loved the quiet, secluded location and the interface with wildlife. The room's lanai was a perfect place to contemplate the day and watch sunsets. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful, with the outdoor setting being an exceptional start of the day. The innkeeper's friendliness made him feel like a friend. Hi Carl!
Disliked: Dog droppings on the lawn caused odor, especially during rains, and hampered my enjoyment of the room's lanai.
