Hahei Beach Resort

We had a nice winter...

Liked: Location to beach, town Centre, cathedral cove and hot water beach.
Disliked: The costal cottage we were in was dated, the layout was very choppy with bedrooms having exterior doors which was concerning for the children’s bunk room and the kitchen being difficult to use due to the layout.

Liked: We had a very nice stay in this well-equipped holiday cottage, just a short walk from the beach. The cottage has a terrace with a table and sunshade — perfect for relaxing outside. The bathroom is simple but clean. There's a selection of coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the kitchen. The late check-in was well organised; instructions and the key were waiting for us in the reception area, which made arrival stress-free.You can rent a small shovel for visiting Hot Water Beach — very handy and definitely recommended!
Disliked: Like in many places in New Zealand, the hot and cold water come from separate taps — not our favourite setup, but manageable.

A beautiful location.

Liked: I feel that I need to make clear that when I visited the resort it was in the middle of the NZ winter (low season) and that I was not sure what to expect. The facilities in the resort were largely shut (due to it being low season) but the cabin was comfortable, if a little sparsely furnished; this might be the norm for such accommodation in NZ so should not necessarily be taken as a criticism. The location could not have been better.
Disliked: No oven, just a microwave. As it was low season most of the town was closed.
