Nice holiday great location but...

Liked: Recaption staff and area was nice and welcoming Bar staff were excellent
Disliked: Room was small with no view and limited fresh air as we were overlooking the courtyard which was coveredLast day breakfast choice was very limited and staff very slow to replenish

Disliked: - Staff weren’t overly friendly - It is a little older- Not spacious for two large bags but you can make it work

Liked: Hotel in need of some renovation. I requested a room on a higher floor to have more peace and quiet and they asked me to pay an additional amount to have access to a superior room. When I arrived I was informed that my room would be on the first floor right on Gran Via. At night the noise is constant and the windows are not the best for acoustic comfort. The justification they gave was that they cannot guarantee any customer the location of the room, but in fact they knew how to ask for an additional amount to have access to a superior room. When faced with a customer who specifically requests a room on a higher floor to have access to more peace and quiet and then is offered a first floor, this is the greatest demonstration of a lack of care and attention towards a customer. The hotel is pleasant but it is far from justifying the price they are asking for. In the same location or nearby there are dozens of better options for the same price. Look for alternatives....

Liked: It's central location. A charming reception are/bar/library.
Disliked: Had to pay up front for the room. Very small and outdated room and bathroom. No tea making facilities. No kettle. I had to take tea, a tea pot and cups from the breakfast room area. Breakfast did not include a menu for omelettes, poached eggs etc. The fried eggs were tepid not hot! Bacon cold.Reception staff were not welcoming. April 10th 2/3pm.
