Nice place, centrally located with...

Liked: very central and convenient location, nice, clean and well-designed place
Disliked: The rooms have a little kitchen but no plates, no cutlery, no bowl or the like

Superb

Liked: Nice and clean, kitchen included with coffee and tea. Nice high ceilings. Modern. Easy parking. Close to city centre and park.

Not quite up to expectations...

Liked: I was welcomed by a nice lady. The reception/meeting/restaurant area was nice. Location close to train station. There was tea in the room, even though water had to be cooked in a kettle on a cooking plate.
Disliked: The room was barren and dreary. The building is a rehabilitated brutalist building with large concrete surfaces, and no effort had been put into making it welcoming. There is a gym advertised, but in reality you get to use only a small section of the gym that is there, and it has very restricted opening hours.

For a city stay close...

Liked: The location of the guesthouse for the train station and the city centre was great. Everything was within walking distance
Disliked: There was a kitchenette and although it was possible to order extra kitchen utensils for EUR 11 - for a short stay like mine I would have liked some basic equipment, such as a couple of plates & mugs/cups, and some cutlery. As it was we only had 2 paper cups, some coffee & tea. That was disappointing.

Liked: Secure underground parking for our motorbikes (booking.com doesn't seem to recognise them as a means of transport, 1/10 for booking.com) We could leave our gear on the the bikes, very convenient. Rooms have little kitchens, would be great if you are staying for a few days. Corn bread toasties are excellent, good breakfast. Staff were very friendly, Close proximity to an Irish bar, which for us Scots was especially welcome, but not the hangover :-) Much, much, better than the hotel we had in Alkmaar, which was twice the price ......
Disliked: What didn't I like ? booking.com asks ..... How wet everywhere is this year so far. The seam in my thick motorbike socks were chaffing in my boots. borrrrrrring 62mph limit on Netherland's motorways. Watching the news, people who aren't kind to animals .... and many other things in the world I don't like but none of them relate to the Guesthouse Vertoef :-)

Liked: Simple, spacious, clean rooms and good bathroom. Comfortable bed.
Disliked: A kettle would be handy
