Very good

Liked: Because Abbey Sands was closed but I was transfered to a sister hotel with no charge.

Torquay stay

Liked: Place was clean and in good condition. Staff friendly
Disliked: Breakfast..paid in advance.. ran out of fried eggs and bacon during serving...took a long time to get More.. no sausage available at all. A sad breakfast...

Feel we booked under false...

Liked: The staff were lovely and the room was fine.
Disliked: We booked the hotel as the booking.com advert stated the hotel had a pool, a bar and a restaurant. As the hotel had just been sold, the pool wasn't heated, so was out of use, and the bar didn't have a licence. The restaurant was also out of action. These things were literally the reason we booked! I complained and was told my feedback was important! Really disappointed as it looked like it could have been a nice stay otherwise.

Liked: The room was serviceable, the breakfast was nice and it's a good location.
Disliked: We were booked into their sister hotel but contacted about a month before to be told this would be closed and we had been moved to the grand. The room was okay though could only see the sea if you lent out of the window. We arrived late afternoon and checked in before going for a walk with the plan to eat a light meal in the bar area. After being given a menu we went to order and were told that actually they were not doing bar food that night so quickly had to change and find somewhere else before we went to the theater. At 7am the fire alarm then went off and it took 5-10 minutes for a staff member to arrive to stop the alarm so the lie in we were looking forward to rudely disappeared.

Stately visit

Liked: It was actually the Grand Hotel not Abbey Sands, which had transferred my booking over for their own reasons. The Grand Hotel was large and stately, with big bathrooms and a nice atmosphere. Close to the promenade with undercover parking available
Disliked: Some noise from the railway station next door

No stay

Liked: Didn’t know until we arrived at hotel that it was closed.
Disliked: We never stayed in the property as it was closed
