Why Concert-goers love it

Grey Street Hotel’s location is a dream for music lovers. It’s just a short walk to top venues like the O2 City Hall and a quick 10-minute stroll from Newcastle Central Station, making late-night journeys a breeze. The central setting means you’re close to everything, but the hotel itself remains quiet and peaceful – perfect for winding down after a high-energy gig. Check-in is available from 15:00 and check-out is at 11:00, giving you time to sleep in after a late night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Couples making a weekend of it with concerts and city dining
  • Fans looking for a quiet, restful space post-show
  • Budget-conscious travellers who still want boutique style and location

Food and Drink Options

While the hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant or bar, you’re spoiled for choice just outside the door. The surrounding area is packed with walkable eateries, pubs, and late-night dining spots. There's also tea and coffee making facilities in-room for a pre-show caffeine fix, and breakfast options are available nearby for post-concert lie-ins.

  • Easy walk to late-night venues and after-parties
  • Return to a blissfully calm room after a night out – the best of both worlds

What People Say

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant or bar, so you’ll need to head out for meals and drinks – but with so many options nearby, that’s rarely a problem. A few rooms may feel compact, but the design makes up for it in character.

The Bottom Line

Grey Street Hotel is a chic and central choice for concert-goers who want to stay in the heart of Newcastle without sacrificing comfort or style.

Only slept here for one night but room and facilities were great and very clean.

Liked: Location.

Judith W, Darlington, visiting O2 City Hall Newcastle

Stayed here 10 years ago and had a fabulous room and enjoyed it. This time round we had a very small dark room at the back of hotel with a view of a wall. Very noisy with the huge kitchen extractor fan below our room and had no sleep. The mattress dipped in the middle and the hotel looked very tired.

Disliked: Very disappointing.

Overrated. Very small room. Not value for money.

Liked: Very comfy bed.
Disliked: Very small room for a double. Nowhere to sit if you wanted breakfast in your room. Small reception desk - always seemed to have too many staff. No parking facilities - had to use a pay and display public car park nearby. Breakfast was an extra and expensive. We went for a short walk to the Eldon Square shopping centre and had a lovely breakfast for less than half the price. Generally OK but wouldn't stay there again.

Liked: Gorgeous hotel and brilliant room. Really quiet considering it was on a busy road. No noise from other rooms. Comfy bed and brand new bathroom. Breakfast was one of the best weve had-worth adding onto your room.

Nice hotel, location excellent &...

Liked: The location is excellent for shops, bars and restaurants. The room albeit small are nice and stylish. The bed was very comfy. We got a free upgrade to a deluxe room, a standard double must be tiny as the deluxe room was nice but still small.
Disliked: Small rooms & can be quite noisy as it is on one of the busiest cross roads in Newcastle centre. Outside road crossing beeping can be annoying. A lot of internal stairs between rooms and actually into room 6 which we had. Was ok for us but the elderly or less able would struggle.
