Hotel Description
'Located in the coastal resort town of Montrose Gray Harlings is a family-run hotel offering relaxing and cozy stays. There are 9 stunning bedrooms to choose from some with views over the historic Montrose Golf Links - the 5th oldest course in the world! WiFi access and on-site parking are free. We have a fully licensed bar beer garden and outdoor seating areas plus a function room (with its own pool table!) which are available to guests and the public. From the property Montrose Train Station is less than a mile away Montrose Bay is a short 5-minute journey on foot from the property and St Cyrus Natural Reserve is an 11-minute drive away. An array of activities can be enjoyed in the surrounding local area - Montrose Golf Links is right on our doorstep! We're delighted to share that the “Good to Go” Industry Standard which we achieved last year (in partnership with Visit Scotland and the World Travel & Tourism Council) has been renewed for 2021! This means we have followed government and industry guidelines have a COVID-19 risk assessment (and associated policies) in place as well as processes to maintain high standards of cleanliness and to aid physical distancing. We have a car park on site at the hotel. Bicycle storage is available at two outdoor racks located in the courtyard and car park. Indoor storage is not available at this time.'

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: No WiFi. Loud music, doors banging, drunk people and parties going on until after 1am so unable to sleep. No one onsite to help and slow response to messages

Quaint but they need staff...

Liked: Quaint, Victorian Inn; it was clean and quiet. It was also neat to be so close to the golf course. Lor was great about helping us when Booking.com booked too few rooms for us: she noticed and called me right away.
Disliked: There was no staff when we got there! The email instructions were confusing—mentioned Room 4 and also Room 5??! I had told them I needed rooms for 7 and they only had them for 6–I only noticed that a few nights before but got cut off so I never knew how it was resolved. And they never explained that the room key opened the front door too! The return call was to my phone that had no service, not to WhatsApp I needed to use while traveling. And when we got there late, and NO one was at the front desk to answer questions, which rooms, etc, I couldn’t even call anyone because THEIR WiFi was down!! It was a very frustrating experience—I must have spent over two hours on 4-5 phone calls just for to make sure things were right for ONE night!

Great stay

Liked: We liked the room and location, when we arrived it was pouring down so we couldn’t go for walks but it’s a lovely location and having the restaurants right across the road is handy. Such a comfortable bed and shower was amazing.
Disliked: The vending machine was empty so we couldn’t just mop downstairs to grab a drink.

A nice room with a...

Liked: Location and size of the room
Disliked: The shower being blocked and when it was fixed (in a timely manner) they disconnected the drain so water floodeed downstairs and the they had to come back to fix it late at night when we had gone ot beed
